Why Walk When You Can Fly

  • Morning diary,

Well I didn't get all my list done over the weekend, I did dye my hair, so that's something.

DS has got the opportunity of a lifetime on Wednesday, he and a lot of other cadets are going for a four hour flight in a C17 from RAF Brize Norton. They're doing some sort of training mission and want the cadets to tag along for the flight. DS is super excited :)

I've been thinking about a lot of things recently (probably to do with the weather) I'm generally fed up, I think I'm addicted to sugar, I feel overweight and I lack enthusiasm. Something has got to change. There's two months until the end of the year and I have training to do for my trek next June, so I need to refocus and sort myself out.

I just said to DH that once we get October out of the way, we need to get organised and back to the budget again. He's in agreement.

I guess that brings me to my November goals:

    Cut down on sugar
    Cut down on alcohol
    Go to the gym/exercise more
Take lunches to work - 16 days to do
    Get organised for Christmas
Do my tapestry - I've been neglecting this badly
    Do surveys
    Meal plan
Read my book - Not been doing this properly
    Get decent sleep

I have three days holiday in November, I need to go to the bank and set up the PAYEE on my Christmas/Birthday pot account, sort out Christmas cards/tags and get them written. I also want to get the kids stocking stuff bought and go through and see what I have aside already for the little ones in the family.
  • Hmm I think I may have upset the PA in the office...she's very finicky anyway. She sent out a curt email asking myself and a few others to respond to her invite for the Christmas party, I replied and asked her for the menu.

She replied that it was the traditional turkey dinner, after much searching on the web, I can't find a menu for the venue. So I've emailed her back asking her if it's a 3 course meal and if so what the other courses are or if it is just the one course.

I'm not going to be going if I don't know what the menu is, I hate these type of things anyway and even more so now that I am still not permanent!

Will see what she comes back with.
  • I've definitely upset her...she replied 'So if you don't like the starter or dessert are you not coming?'

I only asked a question and she still hasn't answered it! !!!!!! Tempted not to go anyway.

Stroppy cow! Would it help your chances of being made permanent to go and do a bit of schmoozing with the bosses? If not I'd be tempted to skip it.

    That is pathetic!

I rarely go on work dos, I'm not going this year. I definitely wouldn't go if I couldn't see a menu in advance!

Hope DS enjoys his day, that sounds like an amazing experience.

I'm with you on needing to cut down on the rubbish, I'm sure it's not helping my mood!

She finally sent the menu over and I have said to her that I will go, but I have just realised that I think we are at SiL's that day so I'm not sure how that will go down if I now say I can't go.

ETA: We are SiL's the Sunday the week before.
  • After feeling poo recently, talking to DH and he hit the nail on the head....my Vitamin B levels are low again. One of the problems with being pregnant with DS was that he took a lot of my Vitamin supply and after three trips to the Doctor many years ago I ended up having injections...since then when my levels get low I get headaches and feel lethargic, once I take Vitamin B tablets for a while things improve and I'm back to normal.

So I picked up some tablets this morning and will do what I can to get my levels back up.

Moving on, I withdrew £11.25 from PB this morning, when it clears I will pay this off the BC. I'm hoping the OP will be at pay out by the end of November, this will also go off the BC.
  • Oh you have my sympathy. I also hate the annual Christmas work do...Do what's best for you.

Work Xmas parties are vastly overrated. I don't drink so watching my colleagues descend into drunken, potentially career-limiting mayhem whilst forcing down bland, badly batch cooked, lukewarm whatever is not my idea of fun. This year I am not going and will get the afternoon off instead to mooch around the town centre, indulge in a nice coffee and generally chill out, all with no hangover at work the next day - who gets the better deal on that one... :p
