Luckily I've gone for a boiler with a 10 year warranty!0 -
Apologies chris, comment was meant for other thread.
I'm sure your new boiler will last as long as it can0 -
Annual usage to 6 Set 2017 3 bed detached, part double glazed and work from home. 3 adults plus a nipper weekends, oil filled rad on permanent from Oct to March in a cold workshop.
Using an old Olympic boiler from 1984. Easily repaired for under £25 every 3 years.
Electric 3595 kw
Gas 6793 kw0 -
3 bed semi with solid walls.
Electricity 7000kWh/year
Gas 15000kWh/year
Electricity includes running an electric car 10,000 miles/year.0 -
4 bed detached in the north east. 10 year old system boiler and thermal store. 2x servers running 24/7 and quite a few quiescent items on standby.
Last years usage:
Elec 4,500KWh
Gas 22,000KWh
This year we have added an extension with wet undefloor heating and replaced the old kitchen with ceramic hobs and halogen lighting with Induction hobs, LED lighting , better insulation and more efficient glazing, so we will see next year if the two balance each other out.• The rich buy assets.
• The poor only have expenses.
• The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.0 -
Hello again.
Since my last post, i now record Gaz and Leccy every week, and put it into a table, along with a calc to see exactly how much i've spent.
I've also fitted a new digital progrmmable thermostat for the heating, and fitted some more LED lighting (nice warm 2700k stuff) to help reduce Leccy bill a bit.
So a little update, now we're into the 'winter' months, whats your daily/weekly usage?
This week, i used 538 kwh Gaz and 50 kwh of Leccy.
As before larg(ish) Semi, solid walls, heating on all day, Plasma 42" TV(not helping!)0 -
Now I've got smart meters I can see it exactly, the week 25th Nov to 1st Dec..
Gas 512 kWh
Electric 149 kWh
3 times as much electric as you, but we do have 2 kids with washing machine/dishwasher and tumble dryer probably on twice a day0 -
Cool, Leccy was at 40kwh from beginning of September to end of October, but has crept up as nights getting longer (Lights) , and boiler circ pump doing more work
Will be interesting to get a picture of the whole year.0 -
Also since I got the smart meter monitor, I can see the worst killer for leccy is our electric shower which runs off cold water.
As we've had a combi for a year, probably time I looked into getting a new shower which runs off that instead.0
