We've got a brand new boiler.
In the 9 months to September, we've used 16,200 kWh for gas and 3016 for electricity.

4 bedroom house, but only 2 rooms currently are constantly heated (other 2 unused). Will be 3 in December ...

There's something iffy about our boiler or heating system. Something seems to drain energy without being put to good work.
Current Debt (excluding mortgage) - £7,020
    Reducing £450/ month.

I presume you had no heating on during the heatwave? How much kWh did you use in a single summer month( June or July )?

11000 kwh gas and 900 kwh of elec in large 4 bed house.
I do have 4kw pv system which I use to the max.
4kWp, South facing, 16 x phono solar panels, Solis inverter, Lincolnshire.
  • Been looking at PV myself, but can't really justify it atm, and i hear the Govt are cutting their subsidy from march :/

I'm sure it would have come in handy for the electric car in a few years time :)

All the more reason to get it now while you can still get something back for it, although its not anywhere near as competitive as it once was. You can still get a feed in tariff locked in for 20 years if you get an installation and sign up before March 2019.

After that date there is no financial incentive for solar beyond saving on your bills which is a real shame. The feed in tariff was such a great thing because regular people could get paid a fair deal for the energy produced and reduce the reliance on dirty energy sources.
  • I agree with everything you say. And if i was staying here for another 20 years...

Do you happen to know what your yearly usage would be without the pv system, have you got readings from before?

(looking at your numbers enviously... less than half my gas usage, and an eighth of my elec usage!)

Wow! that is seriously low. :T Whats your secret? Do you have any form of energy store for your solar? I have all LED lighting (which makes a massive difference), try to only use washing machine, vacuum when sun is out etc. Admittedly i'm guiltily of watching tv or gaming in the evenings when the solar has finished its day, but I don't think I could ever match those kind of figures with my current setup.
