Perhaps Economy Energy have realised that the rates they offered in early summer were just too generous and they’re now attempting to extricate themselves from the long-term fixed deals that they sold;
...I’m not accusing,...just musing!0 -
I smell another IRESA on the way:eek:0

The behaviour of Economy Economy is erratic and irrational. A competent energy supplier does not increase its gas tariffs by 88% after a client has agreed on a fixed tariff with price guarantee only a few months earlier. All in all, this looks like a company in difficulty. The tone of their formal notice is that they are encouraging clients to move elsewhere. Presumably, they offer client fixed prices without buying forward at prices that would deliver a profit.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0

Anything can happen with economy energy. It looks like they have made a massive muck up treating Switch Saver as both fixed and variable. Clearly this cannot work. For people who have had a welcome pack confirming a fixed rate deal, if they are now told it is variable the only course is to go to complaints and confront EE with their own documentation. One odd thing about documentation copied on this thread is that the supposed fixed rates have no exit penalty. This is odd. Resolving a complaint may be a slow process. I have been pursuing a complaint for a number of weeks.
In my opinion EE is so incompetent that it really should not be trading. Perhaps soon it won't be if things carry on like this. I hope it does not go down too soon as my account is in credit0 -
Another EE customer with the price increase email, similar to others I have a Switch Saver tariff but the confirmation email states Fixed. Talking to their online chat they state the following: "In this instance as you were responsible for agreeingthe terms and conditions and did so without realising this was variable, thecase may not be taken on. The responsibility lies with yourself in relation tothis."
Challenging them on this and not following up if it was indeed their error they go on to state "this was an error however you did agree online a variable contract when this arrived if you had called customer servgice we would of confirmed this to you."
I assume I'll have to look for another utility provider to switch but experience is definitely made me rethink going to a smaller provider in future.ummm...0 -

I don't buy their response. The Welcome Letter is an offer which the client accepts and a contract is formed. There is no action that I can see which seeks to vary the conditions of this contract.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. To g33za and others who believe they contracted for a fixed rate.
Did all the documentation you saw describe the rate as fixed or was there a mixture of "fixed" and "variable" ?
Statements from EE that they "would have" done or said X when in fact they did or said Y are part of my experience with them. You cannot rely on the accuracy of anything they write or say. If you have evidence to support your position and are deadlocked with EE I believe you can go to the energy ombudsman. EE should confirm you are deadlocked if such is the case.0
