Depends where you live, where I am, its a huge city, and there aren't the resources. Not enough hostels or nightshelters here...lots and lots of people on the streets, and the hostels and nightshelters are awash with drugs and people with some serious issuesThe opposite of what you know...is also true0

Has she actually applied for any benefits OP?
Fair play she wont get contributions based, but income based is differentThe opposite of what you know...is also true0 -
Give her an ultimatum. Find a job, any job, to start contributing to the household costs or sling her hook.0

The system isn’t a savings account.
Your girlfriend simply needs to find a job. She’s intelligent enough to get through uni and everywhere is looking for Christmas temps right now. It’s a great time to look0 -
and has struggled to find any work.
Has she really tried?0 -
August 2017
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-40874571
The report states there are currently 11,800 people across Scotland either sleeping rough, staying in hostels, living in unsuitable temporary accommodation, sofa-surfing, sleeping in cars or staying in squats or refuges.0 -

I'm glad you think it's that easy....0 -

Might be on the wrong board though.
If under 30yrs check out movementtowork.com - placements helping get 19-30 years into work experience and confidence at job seeking with some big named employers.
Crikey, I even took a minimum wage job in a building with around 7 floors - lots of companies with better pay to progress too if not one of the 50% that makes it to the floor after training. When you are in a minimum wage job there is only one way to go! (providing you don't come across a company that tries to pay less then the going rate)
There's no guarantee girlfriend would pick up benefits (worst but normal case on UC) any quicker then 6 weeks if at all, all you can do is encourage her to apply to a company that works out legit and above board to really use what will be a waste of education otherwise.0 -

Your GF is a single woman without children so her chance of getting a flat this side of 2025 is almost impossible.
Do you honestly think it is that simple to get housed by the council?0
