    Congratulations Valli, and (((hugs))) Jojo.

Kelpie trundled, ground floor straighted, emails checked. Shower time now and then off to do a bit of volunteering. I think I may have to stay all day to do a huge job that needs doing once a year.

    OH can man the fort.
    Better is good enough.

Knew I would get loads done last night, took dog for a walk and as soon as I got back I started on the kitchen, I took anything that didn’t belong there back upstairs and dumped on my bed, along with clean washing, took a load of washing downstairs and washed and hung out, whilst all this was happening the bleach was working its magic in the bathroom, then I gave it a quick once over. :A
Made my tea, which was delicious and relaxed and watched a bit of the soaps, at 8 me and the dog, much to his delight went up to the bedroom. I tidied clothes away and sorted bits and pieces whilst he lounged like a lord on my bed  Living room is tidy too now and it just needs a hoover but doing the whole house tonight after spare room is sorted. To be fair the spare room will look 100 times better with the bed made.
Even made my bed properly with the cushions on this morning, who is this person!? :rotfl:

  • Woke up around 7am due to feline expressing his happiness that I'm home. better than the 5am I have been waking up at, and I did manage to go back to sleep for a couple of hours.

There's a pleasant golden crispness to the sunshine today. Lucky old Himself gets to be on the Moors for the beginning of autumn, which is absolutely beautiful, albeit cold because his mother doesn't believe in putting the heating on for more than half an hour, rather than letting the cottage actually warm up properly and then keep it at a reasonable temperature.

I need food - lots of vegetables, for a start, as we've been eating on the run and I feel fat(ter) than I should be. So I need to go and buy an Oyster Card, top it up and then I can get to the shops whilst awaiting the replacement bank card. Or I could walk to the market, I suppose. But walking isn't holding as much appeal when it's all we've done for weeks and my legs still hurt.

Need to get some more strong flour for the BM as well, and then I'll set that going whilst I potter about this afternoon. I haven't got the heart to vacuum the stairs and landing whilst both cats look so happy I'm back.

    Congratulations, Valli.
Thank you HB for the definitely non medical but very interesting advice, as a way to use up my over zealous sage tree.

Yesterday afternoon, DD and I took a trip out to the Swedish Store. We were very restrained and had a list, but now I at least have a functioning kitchen clock. Little things...

I'm just back from digging a barrow of potatoes and picking 2 huge carrier bags of plums at the allotment. A plum jam session is called for later. Coffee first though, and definitely the bathrooms need to be cleaned. I suppose at least I cleaned the stairs yesterday on the way down from the bedroom.

WM is now running, bread is brewing, DD has emerged and will be put into action to change her bedding. I really must attack the bathroom. And get some dinner out of the freezer

    Me again.

    Bathrooms. Are. Done.

Ironing pile needs to be added to the list. Also I have added Replace Shower Sealant to the Toots list. HB, you have inspired me to learn how. DH did it the first time - ahem - years ago, and now thinks that job is done. Forever.

Well had an interesting time since posting.

Was out and about doing stuff :)when I ran into someone I know who said, (x) are looking for ad hoc admin person, on a needs basis, it would just suit you, as although you are retired you are going to get bored in the winter, so off I go and see about it, long and short is training tomorrow morning, then 3 shifts next week, so I guess I best ring HMRC, and find office style clothes and come out of retirement part time! :D

In garden now and going to read my book.

Major flying excitement today not of the cleaning kind but the arrival of a family of young fairies (long-tailed tits for any newbies who don't know my passion). Tiny. I don't know where they nest; haven't seen any since April and have never seen such young ones. Usually they come around Xmas.

Gym this morning then coffee with a friend. Bought some young kale, leeks and chard so spent rest of the day preparing bed and planting.
Still sorting out photos to take to mum's at the weekend.

  • Just wanted to post and say thank you to everyone for keeping me inspired!
I may not post much, yet I take in all the advice, news etc and it proves a real motivating tool..

These last few weeks I have slowly been decorating the whole house!! It does takes it out of me physically (autoimmune issues), so I have to be organised and do each bit slowly and methodically.
Have also purchased new carpets for the rooms done, the old was 20 years + and the underlay has rotted leaving dust :eek: The previous tenant had a dog that was allowed to use the whole house as a loo:eek::eek::eek::eek: even though I had the carpets cleaned when I moved in as an emergency (long story) they are still grim..
I know people say "oh but you're renting", yep, the & landlady hasn't put up my rent for the last 3 years, if I ask for carpet I know it will have to go up.. this way we're comfortable, the house is looked after so I know I'll get excellent references/deposit back should I ever choose to move.
I keep photos of the before and after.. believe me theres a HUGE difference.

This thread helps keep me on track with the things in the house that otherwise might slip..
    So thanks again everyone! :D

  • Complete non starter of a day in the end, as pain and complete lack of energy hit. All I could manage was an important phone call and a slow walk to the supermarket to find shelves bare and all I could get was a ding dinner and some more scouring sponges for cleaning stuff (I just don't like using cloths).

FIL has now been transferred to the stroke rehab unit and Himself is making plans to see the team alone, as he knows full well that FIL will [strike]lie through his teeth[/strike] insist there are absolutely no issues with his accommodation in an effort to get discharged and back ignoring all medical advice again.

Feeling a bit meh at the thought of Himself not being around, though, tonight.

I think I might try and have an early night and start again in the morning.
