Well done on the dresses ATB!
WUALTD; cat dishes in to soak. (I like to wash pet things separately). Cardigan donned *shiver*
Now having a *moment* - cardigan removed.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

You sound like me Valli with cardigan on and then off quick due to moments!!
More work in but that can wait now. S in a real strop (too much computer time - easy way to remedy that) and has stormed upstairs to get dressed. Z, by some miracle, is doing homework.
I have another load of washing going around, need to unload DW. Went in the garden and cleaned out chicken coop and put lovely fresh bed in for them. I've left them pecking around in the garden; they love the fresh grass.
Must strip the beds and remake ready for tonight .... need to at least do the kids rooms. S said he was a bit cold last night with just a sheet and blanket so will put the quilt back on again. That's bound to make it hot again right?!!
Anxiety a bit rife but keeping on just doing little things and not setting myself huge targets. Think I'll be better when kids back to school again; had J home the last 2 years to help and this has been a looooong holiday (not that those of you who teach/work in schools will think that I'm sure).Flymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0 -
Back gutter seems to have developed a dripping leak, school bus pass has been lost in the post (no idea whether a replacement will get here for next week now....), and the kitchen clock has given up the ghost. Just one smooth day is all I asked.....
DR, bedroom and spare bedroom dusted.
Sock drawer sorted. Not sure where the odd ones came from, as they were pairs when they went in, but the culprits are now in the recycling collection.
Hair washed. Once I have dried it, I will vacuum the bedroom floor.
Bathmats washed and hanging outside.
One bag of DD's clothes turned out. She must have been a welldressed 8 year old!0 -
However it seems that I have so far forgotten to do my tax return...:o
Now all I have to do is find some money to pay the tax bill..... :cool:WUALTD; cat dishes in to soak. (I like to wash pet things separately). If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Been working today so won't be getting much done around the house.
Will just do usual washing up, putting away etc.
Put a load of washing in the dryer.
Will clean bathrooms tomorrow.
Skipped breakfast this morning because I felt ill - feeling better now though. Took lunch into work but forgot drink so had to buy a few drinks - grrrr.

Given that we're absolutely not allowed to give any medical advice, this isn't medical or advice, okay? I found that taking sage helped with hot flushes. It can be taken either in capsule form from the health food shops, as a tea (ask for sage in the health food shop and some magically produce a huge bag of it for a quid from behind the counter) or grown at home or from the supermarket and eaten as fresh leaves. It's my least favourite herb taste but even I got used to drinking it as a tea, which I used to make in a pot and then refridgerate and drink at least one glass a day, two when things were grim, morning and evening. It reduces sweating, not just for hot flushes, so people who are ill can safely drink it if they're suffering from a fever. Give it a few days to work its wonders.
I've dealt with all the leftover food from the croquet day and the freezer is now completely rammed full. So much so that I had to remove several bags of beef offcuts from Kelpie's bones, and they are now bubbling away in the slow cooker with a red wine and mushroom sauce for tonight. They're the trimmings from his bones which are as fresh as fresh can be when I collect them from the butcher, but shreds of beef have to be cut off because they're too rich for Kelpie's digestion. It only happens when the butcher is frantically busy, so these offcuts are from December, and while I was picking up this week's bones I offered the butcher's wife some of the cooked end result for them next week as a thank you and she leapt at it. Very gratifying. Saves her cooking, and they work very long hours.
The house is looking very tidy and rather marvellous now after only three weeks of J visiting and helping out for a couple of hours a week. It's made all the difference to me; I no longer feel I can never get on top of it, with the result that I can concentrate on the kitchen and bathrooms while she does the dusting and vacuumming, with me only needing to give the ground floor a quick zip over it when Kelpie's sheddings are ankle deep. It was, I'm afraid, completely out of control. She's making her own listies of what she wants to do to bring it up to her standard, too. She really does love doing housework. Lucky, lucky me. I wish I'd asked her a year ago.Better is good enough.0 -
I am a great Aunt (again) - I have a great niece now!
Been to get fish for fish pie - got two big pieces YS so have made two; one to freeze.
Bathroom cleaned
ETA fish pie two finished and in freezer
SW BBQ chicken thighs marinating. Various spices used up which will need replacing - and they were (slightly) OOD so a good use up.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Back in that there Sarf Lundin again, having negotiated weird diversions into Wiltshire, the chip on my card failing and nearly trapping me in the bowels of Zone 1, a heavy backpack and generally irritating things like waiting 40 minutes to be seen at the bank to get some cash out and order a replacement card.
By the time I had to walk back from the station (as the damned card is the only way to pay), I decided that it was the perfect opportunity to drop into the camping shop with the tent as politely request an immediate refund for their forgetting to supply the bit wot stops the rain coming in.
Didn't have the receipt, but a combination of my face after six hours travelling and the offer to look up the date of purchase on my mobile banking app with comments about how useful it was to have bin bags and gaffer tape with me in the middle of nowhere, really, meant the manager overrode the settings on the till to give me a full refund without even opening the (perfectly packed) tent to check I wasn't taking the mickey.
Got in and was hit by A Smell. Still not sure what it was, but from 5.15pm to 6.45pm when I finally sat down, i
Bleached the bin and shoved it out the back
Re washed all the cups
Chucked out all recycling (already washed) into the new massive bins that mean I have to climb over the garden wall to get to the front door (no choice about having them, apparently)
Tracked down a few slime mould cultures in the studio.
Cleaned all kitchen surfaces and appliances
Swept kitchen, shower room and front room
Vacuumed kitchen, shower room and front room
Dealt with Felines' Little Tray of Evil
Moved settee and checked under there, behind appliances and under tables for expired rodents.
Opened windows, doors and put wash load on.
Then my lovely cat sitting friends came round, had a cuppa and I'm now slowly convincing myself to get out of the bath.
Himself called and his Dad is perking up after successful physio (and a fair old bit of straight talking from me over the last few days, as he was refusing treatment ), and is now waiting on a free bed at a stroke rehab unit.
I therefore have a chance to get things sorted here, even with the dreaded work next week, everything down there is in hand, and all that remains to be dealt with is the problem that Himself doesn't even like being away overnight, never mind indefinitely. And I haven't been alone for any real length of time for years.
Oh well, we're allegedly grown-ups, we'll just have to deal with it.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
