That's very true. After another weekend off plan, I'm just going to do what I can until Christmas and then try and get some motivation back after!

    Operation Kitchen has started :T

I started scraping off the artex at the weekend, but figured it would take me forever, so used an electric sander and have done the whole kitchen (I did take precautions, damped down to reduce dust and wore dust mask, goggles, protective clothing etc). It's not completely smooth but has made a huge difference. I've done all the prep now, filling, cleaning etc, so now just need to get paint. I'll leave the floor til after the rest is done. I'll try and get a nice thick paint to cover up the imperfections.

The kitchen has probably not been so clean in 40+ years!

DH has sold a lot on ebay, and a couple sold for me too. 16 parcels posted this morning, and a few more to go.

We also went out on Saturday to use our free entry tickets to a local house. It was a lovely walk and a nice day for it. We also stopped in the Christmas fair too while we were there.

DH managed to clear something he's been promising to do for ages, so that's another job done too. He also looked at what paint etc we've got in the garage so we know what we need to buy and what we can use. There's a massive tub of magnolia so there will be enough to redo some of the other areas of the house. He's also suggesting some other things we can do to improve the house, so hoping he's getting the bug too.

  • We have artex everywhere, it's horrendous. The house was built in the late 80's so we can't sand it off as it could contain asbestos, so we'd have to plasterboard all the ceilings.

I hate artex. We used to have it on our hall walls in our last house and it was really sharp .

  • I can remember in the early 90s when my parents had all the ceilings in our house artexed.
