Dh took the kids to the fireworks, I didn't go, stayed behind to carry on listing. I managed 43 over the weekend :T
I've still got more to list so will try and get that done this week. 10 items packed and posted this week.
I'm at home today with little jwil so operation ' make the house a home' has started. I've made a start in the front room. Taken down and washed the curtains, cleaned the curtain rail, windows and walls and paintwork. I've also painted the windowsill which has been flaking and missing patches since we've been here. I also did another windowsill that is the same on the landing. Small things, but looks cleaner and better. It does highlight how much the rest needs doing though. It's quite nice out today, so the curtains are out on the line.
It's early days yet, but I've been feeling a bit better the last few days. I'm tentatively hoping I've turned a corner with my depression and it's starting to improve for now."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Hi Jwil - glad you got the tax refund just as you needed it. I still need to send off for mine - and mine could be more... and yet I still find it so hard to do. OH and I are owed £78 each on a packaged bank account we had - plus I am owed some on the ppi reclaim I had. Feel free to kick me up the b*tt until I do it.
Great progress on the decorating - I need to do the same - I have the paint but not used it for around a year.
I sympathise on the weight gain - at least you are still going and doing something to help yourself become healthier.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Yay to the cheque from HMRC, that's a great amount
Well done sorting out the OD as soon as you spotted it.
Have a lovely day xx0 -
How’s it going jwil. Any more Bay sales?
I am finding this rain a real drag, but this evening seems better for fireworks etc. We are going over to friends for dinner, so a nice cheap evening out with sparkling company - can’t wait!
Have a good evening x0 -

Hope everyone is well
I feel like I'm on a knife edge with my mood, with it going either way, but I think it's improving :T
I lost 5lb at SW last week which is most of the gain from the week before. It doesn't feel like such a battle to get to where I was before again now.
Work is still crazy busy but there is a big deadline tomorrow so one piece of work will be done, and then a new member of staff next week who will hopefully take over some of the work I've been co-opted into doing. I'm hoping that will take some of the pressure off and let me reduce my 'to do' list. I have decided that I am not doing any more overtime from this week, going back to my normal hours. That should help me catch up at home too.
I'm still working my way through my depression book. It's really helping me. I'm making an effort to be kinder to myself, and also to others too. It does help. I'm also trying to be more mindful. I'm making time to spend with the kids which is making them (and me) happier. I'm also making an effort to be nicer to DH who has felt the full brunt of my mood over the last few months whilst I've been hiding it from everyone else.
DH has asked for a motorbike tyre for Christmas. He's really pleased me with this, as it's the first year he hasn't asked for more 'stuff'. He actually said he didn't need anything. :T He does seem to be making more of an effort to clear, and the atmosphere in the house is improving a lot.
The kids had a great swimming lesson this morning, and little jwil has cracked swimming with a float and also dunking his face in the water. I'm so proud of him. Just a few weeks ago, he was in tears, very anxious and got very upset if he got slightly splashed in the face. I've seen such a difference in him :j He also had a fantastic parents evening, where I discovered he's on accelerated reading and that he'd off his own back, gone to audition for the nativity and sung in front of some people by himself. He doesn't tell me these things!
Little miss is enjoying her ballet lessons and really making an effort. She will be 4 soon and I have booked the day off so we can spend it together. I'm so proud of her too."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
2lb on again at SW this week, I'm like a flipping yoyo! Got DH to hide the scales at home, I'm either 'ooh look I've lost weight, I'll have some chocolate', or 'oh I'm not losing so might as well have some chocolate'. I do wonder if I'll ever get there. It seems to be a real mental block with me
I've bought another countdown so will stick at it. I do want to lose weight!
Today we are off to the library, then ballet for little miss, then we are off to use some gift vouchers we won for entry to a local attraction. It will be a nice walk and there's a christmas fair on too.
Then, I have decided, it is operation kitchen! I have bought a dust mask, a scraper and I'm going to try and steam and scrape off all the artex. I think that will be a slow job so probably all I'll achieve this weekend. Then it will be clean, sand and fill holes and paint. Then I'm going to paint the kitchen floor as recommended by kittenI think it will take a few weeks to get it all done as we've got a lot on, but it would be nice to have it done by Christmas.
I've cashed out on a few survey sites this week, so have some amazon vouchers ready for little miss's birthday. Hoping the tablet will be discounted on black friday so I can get a bargain.
I've also got some cash so will use that towards the kitchen. I'm not expecting it to look wonderful, I'm not great at DIY, but it can't look any worse than it does now! In future when we've got money the whole lot needs replacing anyway, so I don't mind too much."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do".
