I say burn the whole house down and start again. Your excuse - I was watching my new TV and didn't notice. Totally believable. I try and work out how I'd get away with it all the time lol.
Have a good weekend. You're getting closer and closer to your ideal home all the time.

I agree on the cleaning. It never ends. Im convinced our house is dirtier when me and the kids are off even though i should actually have some time to clean
It's hard isn't it.HairyHandofDartmoor wrote: »I agree that the tv sounds too good to miss.
I bet the house does look better than before you did the cleaning, just not as nice as you'd like it to.
I wish I could spend the weekend de-cluttering but we have a long journey to do. I hope you get lots of clutter out of the house this weekend
.
It's probably cleaner, just messy again!

It's tempting to just skip everything sometimes!
No quotes yet, must get organised.

We did go to the fete yesterday, the kids enjoyed it. They had a white elephant stall there and I bought a 'standby' extension lead for £1. I had been meaning to look for one anyway (it turns all your appliances off standby when you turn the TV off), and it's also got a socket that will stay on for things like the You View box. I've set it up today and it works perfectly :T :T
To set it up I needed to move some furniture so have given behind it all a good clean. Identified a few more bits to go too :j
The kids have hijacked the new TV so that leaves us the front room which gives us more space to sort stuff. It does mean I've lost my nice quiet seat out the back though
I had another stress about all the stuff this morning. So much so that I've told DH that he's got until little miss starts school and if the house is no better, I'm going. I think he realised I'm deadly serious so hopefully it will spur him on. I have been thinking about it for a while. It's not what I want, but equally I don't want to live like this any more. He's got a year to turn things around so that's ample time. I guess he needs to decide now what he wants"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Oh wow jwil. Well done you for saying it. He has been improving so you've chosen the right time to ask it. And I would send all my possessions down the tip for my family in a heartbeat so I don't think you've been unreasonable. How many years has it been that you've tolerated it?
Can you turn the living room into a more adult room now? I've reclaimed mine recently. They bring all their toys in here but I know where they go away every day. It's been amazing. Just need hubby to finish the shed so I can evict all the tools now
Would he consider a home clearance team or a skip. To underline your point could you ban his stuff from your rooms? So none of his stuff in your bedroom or the kids or the front room? You go through the rooms and take out all the stuff that shouldn't be there and add it to his pile? You deserve to reclaim your space in the mean time xxxLoan 1 £5200/£8000

ThanksWe've been in this house 10 years now. I think I've waited long enough!
The living room is mostly clear apart from some stuff he's dumped in front of the under stairs cupboard. I suggested we go through it (I have no idea what's in there, it's probably a lot of stuff we've inherited) so we can put his motorbike gear and all the packaging in there so it's out of the way. He actually had the cheek to say 'oh but we will have to make sure it's kept clear so I have access to my motorbike stuff' I did inform him that I had cleared it months ago and it wasn't my stuff in front of it!
We wouldn't go down the line of house clearance. It's all decent stuff, there's just far too much of it. Like when a crafter has a stash that they will never get through as long as they live. It's just built up and up over the years.
The trouble with moving stuff is there's nowhere to move it toHe's got the loft full, the spare bedroom full, all of downstairs full (apart from the living room and kitchen), the shed full and the garage full.
