What an awful thing to happen, CR
not surprised she felt so shaken - you too. Be kind to yourselves the next few days.

So after much waiting we finally recieved an email last night to tell us that the hubbster could be made redundant, basically there are 4 jobs but 5 people currently doing those roles and the best interviewers wins. We are resigned to the fact that he will probably be the one to go as he has only been there 2 years and the rest have been there donkeys years and have a wealth of experience and knowledge on the areas they cover. His one saving grace is that he has a wealth of experience of recruiting and working with volunteers which one of the other candidates hasn't. Part of me just feels that this is just a box ticking exercise and they already know who they wish to keep and just prolongs the agony. But in the same way its prolonging his wages so we'll just have to suck it up and keep plodding on. He's decided to apply for a post with the local council even though he would prefer not to (lots of red tape, meetings that just go around and around etc ) but needs must.He slept like a log last night (b!****d) whilst I lay there wide awake.
He's got some paid work today that a friend managed to get a grant for some work that will utilise the hubbster skill set. Me, I've not got alot on today so I'm going to sit a contemplate my navel.

I feel your pain, rabbit! Even two years redundancy, if it happens, is worth having. I know you're hard at work on your budget, obviously - any more thoughts on that?

I hope the interviewing goes well. Maybe that experience will be beneficial, you never know. I feel for you too. But somehow I doubt you're sitting navel gazing today - I'm sure you'll have found something to do (which reminds me, I've still not finished the red currant shrub - so much to do!)! Hi Karmacat, yes still looking and assessing the budget and found several areas that can be lopped or down branded and been looking up lots of reciepes to utilise the allotment produce. Our biggest stumbling block is DD2 been adverse to trying new foods and is not allowed to eat others due to potential choking issues plus been b!***y picky. So most days during the summer I have to cook seperate meals as she is unable to eat salad which the rest of the household eats loads of. Started looking at freezing up portions for her so she can have a dinner, instead of us all having to have a dinner. Need to crack growing brocolli and cauliflowers this time of year as that is what she likes to eat. MIL has decided that she will be giving DD1 an allowance for food for when she goes to uni which will save us abit of money. We are considering taking one of the cars of the road if redunancy happens or even selling one but thats a wait and see one. I made some summer soup the other day which was a welcome change from sandwiches (horrible gluten free bread), so will definately do that again. Think I will have to start shopping at Aldiiiii again which I'd stopped as I wasn't prepared to shop/queue at multiple places.
Themadvix lots going off at the allotment, we are preparing for winter!!! So sowing lots of winter veg/salad stuff. The salad stuff we will put in pots to start off with and once the peppers have finished we'll plant them in the greenhouse. Grapes are almost ready and are a welcome change to shop bourght apples. We have 2 frogs living in the orchard/meadow area and been visited by a orange tailed bumble bee and loads of honey bees on the borage. We've incoperated loads of flowers this year which makes it look more cheerful. We are due for an inspection at the weekend so fingers crossed.
Navel contemplation happened but got bored with and found something else to do, but did demolish a bag of vegan marshmellows even though I'm not a big fan.
karamcat, themadvix and hazelnutty thanks for the well wishes about the hubbster's job. We're both pretty chilled about it at the moment. Thats probably because we only have the mortgage and no other debt, plus saving so we are in a good position. We went to speak to his parents last night and had a couple of glasses of wine (decided to sod the diet, although I've lost 2 lbs whoop whoop). They have offered help if we need it (same as my parents), just told them we'll becoming for tea abit more often, queue invite for next tuesday - result.
MMMMMmm other news DD2 went out with her PA for a walk and a picnic which she got up and dressed for at 6am. We then had a good hour chatting, putting the world to rights, I've missed her so much its unbeliveable. They've planned to do it again next week, and DD2 is seeing her other PA on Saturday for a similar meet up. DD1 met up with a friend yesterday and went walking and a picnic to celebrate her 18th, so I didn't need to walk with her last night to get in her steps (mini cheer). The hubbster had a good day out at his temp work, came in all smiling, did him good to get out and they want him again next week for 2 days. His current manager contacted him to start the next phase of who gets the post and they are having a meeting Monday.
Hope you all have a good day

Loads and loads of good stuff in there CR! Glad you had a good day and great result on the invite for next week! 😂I’ve never really got my head round planting now for the winter - I guess with my limited space it’s all still full at the moment and I’m a bit of a fair weather gardener, although I did enjoy the garlic I grew a couple of years ago - so easy!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Note to self, a woman in her late forties with nerve damage in her right shoulder/arm, who has had a few sherbets should not attempt to do a cartwheel on the way home as they will just face plant the ground.

Uh oh. Those sherbets have a lot to answer for! Hope you're not too bruised!
