so far so good on the home schooling thing, only time will tell how long that will last. DD2 has had to go back to bed for an hour so thought I'd pop on here for a mo. So we've decided mornings will be dedicated to physio, maths and english mailny because I know that when she's at her best plus they are not her favourite subjects so best to get them out the way first. The afternoons look like they will cover art, geography, science experiments and life skills. She must be tired as its art this afternoon and its her favourite subject. Really struggling to get my course work finished as she keeps asking questions or shouting at the computer because its not doing what she wants it to do. Hopefully because I'm making her use it it will help with her hand and eye co-ordination (her hand writing is dreadful ). Computers are the way forward as far as I'm concerend for her. Apparently at school they are doing something with masking tape so thats what we're doing later and we have a canvas that I was going to give away but we'll use that to create our master piece.
Its starting to really sink in and I had a wobble yesterday mainly around my ability to do this as teachers train for along time, work long hours and put in vast amounts of time and energy into doing it and me well the only thing I've really done is that I worked with adults with learning and physical disabilities for 15 years before I gave my job up 14 years, not quite the same. Anyway what I lack in experience I will try to make up in enthusiasm.
Have asked for extension for my course work and then I will need to decided what to do next, either continue to the end of term or ask for it to be deferred till next year.

Hi CR - computers sound the way forward re handwriting - we have several students in each year who use them because their handwriting is so bad, every day, including their actual exams (although they dont tend to use them for maths as that takes roo long to do and most people's numbers are more legible than their letters
)

You know your daughter better than any teacher and if you and she can work together then you are more than capable of this, I'm sure!

Been a strange old day feel I've not done alot. Took DD1 shoes to the cobbler to be fixed but she's worn them down too much and would cost over £50 to build back up and for boots that only cost £35 in the first places its a no. However i will look online and see if I can find a youtube video to see if I can do them my self. I hate throwing away something that could still be used. DD2 has been out with her PA today to the cinema and then in to town for lunch which gave me time to research whats going of in our area that we might access for subjects we are going to cover at home. She came home and did an hour of art so she has that in the bag for a free hour at some point. DD1 has booked her theory test and we've found her a new driving instructor, first lesson next sunday and her last one with the old driving instructor is that saturday too. I'm not sure if its just a personality clash or whether he is hypercritical (she's not the only one to say this, her friend returned from a driving lesson early in tears and refused to go with him again, so..........). We've booked to go youth hostelling for the hubbsters birthday. He and DD1 are going to walk to robin hood's bay and DD2 and I are going to visit the local musuem as a history trip and then catch the bus and meet them at the top of the bay for fish and chips. The following day will be back to the bay and cake at the youth hostel followed by rock pooling, providing the tides are right and we can get DD2 onto the beach then back to the youth hostel for tea. Love a trip out.
Roast dinner today and used the left over peelings, chicken skin and juices to make dog stew, which hopefully will last Miss giddychops 3 days. Left over chicken will provide enough for chicken curry for DD2 and the hubbster next week.
Best go DD2 is getting cranky and if we're not careful the grumplo could appear.
Sorry for any spelling mistakes its gin o'clock

The birthday hostelling trip sounds lovely!
I wouldn’t have thought of looking on YouTube for cobbling tips - will try to remember that in future!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

It certainly does, so made another tilly tidy today of 27p.
Letter to deregister DD2 from school went in on Monday and they have asked for a meeting this week to discuss the next steps but I'm not available so they will have to wait till next week to grill me. DD2 doesn't want to go even though I think they will expect her to attend, anyway that's her decision. Project home schooling appears to be going ok, but thats probably because we are still in the honeymoon period. She approves of the new 'get up when you can' rule although we've agreed she has to be up by 10am. Yesterday was a very late start once she was up, fed, water, clothed and physioed it was 11am but to give her, her due she did then work till 5:30 pm as she got engrossed in her geography and art projects. She then wanted to help make tea (unheard of) so we talked about food hygiene and why we cook food on the hob with lids on..... it got very science based. She definately appears to be less tired and she's not had to take any medication for her anxiety since she's been at home. Monday she had abit of a wobble but that was because she didn't get to sleep until nearly 11pm on Sunday as it was the anniversary of her great grandma death. She had done a fantastic job of organising a lovely family outing to where we had spread the ashes, but by the end of the day she was emotionally exhausted, so I'm not surprised she felt grotty Monday. By the afternnon though she perked up enough to do some baking with my mum whilst I went and gave blood in town.
I'm really tired at the moment which I suspect is because I'm on the go from the minute I get up till she goes to bed and settles plus still getting up with her in the night. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks it will be easier, once we are in more of a rountine.
Best go and wake her as we've got english and maths to do this morning before she goes to the in laws this afternoon, She is going to do a project on Disneyland Paris as she is going with them next year, they are hoping to cover maths. english and ICT whilst doing it.
Hope you get chance to get out side and enjoy the sunshine whilst you can

It sounds like it's going well CR, although do make sure you don't overdo it in terms of your health/energy. Remember that she'll learn much quicker with one-to-one teaching than in a class where they have to match to all the different abilities, so even though she's got a lot to catch up on, giving her more flexible time will probably not slow her down in the long run. And it sounds like she's really receptive to learning generally - with the cooking etc.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
