Hmmm what I'd not said Karmacat was that at the same time as the dunnock was singing I was singing along with him, at the top of my voice 'look at me aren't I beautiful, look at my magnificant chest, look how big it is, you know you want it' until I suddenly heard next doors garage door go,(there is a slight gap between the walls of the garage so you can hear each other moving about, talking or in my case singing), queue embarrasing silence and me creeping out our garage. Really hoping he didn't hear me , he already thinks we're abit odd, no need to add fuel to the fire.
Yesterday I spent a lovely afternoon with my friend and we went to a vintage clothes sale, more for a look round than anything. I did end up buying a modern take on the 50's type cardi as it matched the skirt i was wearing which is covered in lots of little yellow bees and flowers. In fact when I orginally got the skirt, they didn;t have the cardi in my size so a year of patience paid of plus paid less for it. I also got a lovely handmade modern 50's skirt with koi carp on it. It was interesting to look round, lots of outfits that looked like they would only be worn in a panto, but people were buying them. Really good gluten free cake which you really couldn't tell the difference. Rest of the afternoon and early evening was spent putting the world to rights... read gossiping
Today has been mainly spent doing odd jobs around the house and mentally preparing for the kids going back to school.
Positives from the weekend- spent time with a wonderful friend, gluten free cake that tastes like cake, doing something I've never done before and recieved a lovely letter from smile train with a picture of a young child who had benefited from the money we donated at christmas.

Tilly tidy account sorted so just paid in £10.03. It won't be this amount normally but thought I'd give it a helping hand to start with. Loving shangaijimmy idea of paying additional on the 29th Feb by x's however much you want/afford by 29. Think I will look at whatever is the pence on my account that day and x's by 29. It won't not be much, but it will be something.

from your interpretive singing of the dunnock to your cake and the smile train pic. Lovely.

Feeling very tired this morning as we were up most of the night debating what to do about DD2 and school. She is really struggling to comprehened what she needs to be doing in most of her lessons, physio isn't been done still even though it was agreed a month ago it needs to be done at school daily, she is feeling really demoralised by the whole thing. Its really sucks, she is trying so hard but feels that school is just..... well.... just well she can't put into words. A prime example is she came home with results from her latest maths test she got 8 out 100 for one paper and 5 out of 85 for another. When we looked at the paper it was clearly above her ability. The main problem is if the rules are wrote down in front of her she can follow it as soon as she leaves the room its gone, long gone. But because she can follow the rule in class they think she knows how to do it. She's been like this right from being little. She was so embarressed and upset that she didn't want to tell us.She also had homework on inspector calls and had to put things into groups that the book covers, bit hard to do if you don't know or remember what gender, employment equality is, never mind socialism. They expected her to type 3 pages worth bearing in mind she has cerebral palsy throughout her body. Where is the angry emoji when you need it. Don't get me started on science. It doesn't help that she has had a lot of time off with health issue. I understand that schools have to follow the curriculum plan and they do try to adapt it for her but its crushing her morale. We are thinking of taking her out of school and home teaching her, its something we've thought about for sometime (about a year) and had hoped that a new school would improve things. At least we could cover projects she is interested in whilst incoperating maths etc into it. it would mean she could go at her pace, get rid of alot distractions she encounter on a daily basis at school, reduce her tiredness etc. I've spoken to her about it (obviously wouldn't of done this if it wasn't a really possiblity) and although she would miss her friend she's already thought of ways to keep in touch, come up with several ideas of projects she would like to cover and would like to start today if possible. Tried to explain its not a simple as that as I'm in the middle of an essay, however I will discuss an extension with my tutor. I actually feel as in another pieceof the puzzle has slotted neatly into place and this is the right thing to do, feel extremely calm about the whole thing that also indicates its the right thing.
Well wonder what tomorrow will bring, its all change at the burrow. Definately thinking of changing my name to the happy bunny Karmacat.
Positives of the day :
DD2 is feeling good about the possibility of been schooled at home and has come up with 4 different project she'd like to do.
Vegetarian sausage sandwich for breakfast (its the small things)
Its sunny outside for a change.

That sounds like you’ve really thought this through and it is the right decision for you for now. Poor DD2 - I can totally understand why she’d be fed up with school. 😔 Does she have any friends outside of school? (Guides etc?) and don’t forget that you can meet up with other homeschoolers for trips/social aspects, as well as keeping in touch with her existing friends, of course!
And with a veggie sausage sarnie and sunshine, what more could you want?! 😁Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Not sure what the homeschooling network is like in your local area but it's quite good here, from what I've heard - there seems to be more people doing it now (rather than it being the 'alternative' thing it was once seen as) - good social network and great for help and resource sharing/ knowledge.

themadvix she only really has one friend at school, she finds maintaining friendships quite difficult mainly because she's not really into teen stuff and finds it hard to converse on her peer group level. However put her with a bunch of oldies and she has them eating out of her hand. I think she's one of those kids who will probably come into their own when she gets older, my cousin was exactly the same. Old head on young shoulders. We're taking the next couple of days to have a try it run just to see how things will be before we make the final decision. I've made my mind up already but I want to her make a more informed decision. So hopefully come Monday I will formally withdraw her from school and we will start our new phase. Today I pretty much wanted to see how we would manage together, so we did some reading, some maths, talked about our art project that she wants to do tomorrow, plenty of physio combining that with learning lifeskills. We watched a episode of our planet whilst having our lunch which provided us with plenty to talk about. DD2 did drop a clanger when we had a meeting with her community worker yesterday and told her what we thinking of doing even though I expressly told her not to. She was really supportive and said she felt that it would probably benfit DD2 especially due to her ongoing health issues (struggling to catch up the weeks she missed). Greent we've looked it whats in our area through local home education group, so hopefully once we've got our selves in a better place we'll start venturing out. My mother in law has a garage full of resources and they have offered to have her one day a week and look at doing some work with her. Their first project is going to be on Paris. My in laws have been very instrumental in helping to educate my kids. So I'm super grateful they want to get involved (My mum has already claimed Monday morning).
Positives of the day:
DD2 was interested in what we were covering today.
Scrunchy ice underfoot this morning whilst out walking the dog
goldfinches on the bird feeders (first sighting in our garden)
pancakes with ice cream mmmmmmmmmmm.

Ditto what KC said! And how lovely that your in-laws and mum want to get in on it too!I can relate to DD2 being better with oldies than her peers...
