Hope you're feeling better now CR :(

I'm no expert, but would say that £20 clothing allowance/month for DD1 is generous!

  • Hmmm your probably right themadvix about the clothing allowance. I'd calculated the amount from the reciepts I'd collected over a year in relation to her clothes, but that included everything she ever wears. Looking at it now I realise that in actual fact I still pay for school uniform, underwear, school shoes and trainers and a decent winter coat and that was included in the orginal calulation:mad:. My thinking on giving her an allowance was for her to realise how much things cost, saving for something you really want and looking how best to spend it. However I've taught her too well as she shops in charity shops or the sales, patches/ mends her clothes and is not interested in the latest trends only on what suits her, also she cottoned on to asking for clothes for christmas/birthday and she does save her money:D. I think I'd need to have a chat with DH and DD1 about reducing this. Thanks themadvix for your advice/comment.

Sounds like you've got her very well trained :D in which case, it's definitely too much! :rotfl:

Otherwise (I've had another look now I've ventured to say something - I've never commented on an SOA before), it looks pretty well buttoned down. Great saving on the new mortgage deal... where are you going to allocate that?

  • To be honest themadvix not really thought about what we will use the freed up money for.
DD2's PA was telling us that she'd had to have someone to come out and see to her backed up drains. She said that the bloke who did it advised her not to flush tampons/wet wipes down the loo, however she is menopausal and hasn't used them for years. Apparently they must be coming from other households and unfortunately getting stuck near to where the pipe connects to the main sewer. Its a fore gone conclusion that tomatoe plants will popping up all over her backgardern when the warm weather arrives:rotfl:.Cost her a fair bit to get it rectified. Saw this on the news this morning.

Wonder what's lurking in our pipes:eek:

  • DD2 very tired this morning, managed to get her into school for 11am, came home and haven't really left the couch since. Took dog for a 10 minute walk and made a squash and sage soup (should of been risotto tonight but have no energy). TT is 1p:rotfl:.Thats about all today.
    Take care everyone

Take care CR, it sounds like you need to take it easy for a few days.

I agree with MV, £20 is a generous allowance for clothing. I don't give my dd an allowance as she wouldn't buy anything! she'd just save it :rotfl: I buy her things as and when she needs them, she does love a mooch in the charity shops too so I think we've done something right :T

  • hmmmm got abit of a dilema. Well its not but it is, kind of! So the mortgage broker has asked for further info again not sure why they didn't ask for it friday when they asked for something else. Anyway they seem to be taking for ever to sort things and I can't send them uploaded info has to be the real mcoy. So been looking on line and today got a decision in principle from Sandtandare to be there, and we'd be paying £8.00 less a month also. They are happy to take uploaded info also. Or do I go into the bank and arrange to do a face to face as I'm worried I'll !!!! up. So do I inform broker we've found something else or stick with them (no fee)? I think I know what I should do but poor woman has put effort into it and won't get any commission. I feel bad but she really is taking forever. Need to chat to DH I think.

Please, please, please, do what's right for you, don't make *your* financial decision based on feeling sorry for a commission-based broker! That really doesn't work. Sorry, had to stick my oar in there!

  • I think I'd give the mortgage broker a call to see if there's any delay. A decision in principle is not an offer after all and there will be the usual hoops to jump through with Santander before an offer is made. That could mean an even longer wait.

  • CR I'd feel torn too (I am terrible at anything involving negotiation or confrontation) but I agree with Karma that the priority is you. Strength to your arm!
