  • up early again as couldn't sleep as thinking about recent major money blowout and trying to figure out why, WHY, WHY? Self sabotage seems to be my thing at the moment, money, weight loss, studies, life in general. Need to give myself a good talking to, bypass the guilt stage (more eating), dust myself off and just get on with it instead of leaving it till the new year to start afresh. In the process of completing a SOA so will post that at some point. !0 minutes of yoga this morning, off to see my gran in Leciester and dad who has been looking after so my auntie could go away. Better start rousing the troops.

Self sabotage is so easily done, you’re doing the right thing though with dusting yourself off and trying afresh. Remember small steps every day will all add up and get you there.

Hope the visit to Leicester goes well- the lights in town are pretty lovely if you get to see them :) x
    First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!

Wise words from Kittenkirst :) We work so hard, it's inevitable that sometimes self sabotage rears its head. The general direction is what's important. Have a lovely family visit - thats a good restart!

  • Thanks kittenkirst and karmacat for your support and wise advise. Not spent anything for the last couple of days although this doesn't make up for the previous days. It was good to see my gran unfortunately she'd been ill in the night and kept falling asleep. Dad was equally tired as he has a chest infection and hadn't slept. I suspect years of smoking haven't helped the situation. Didn't see any lights kittenkirst as my gran lives on the north east side of leciester near the countryside. Car had to go in today as it had been recalled. Housework was a team effort tonight, just the bathroom needs doing tomorrow:mad: as we ran out of time.

10 mins of yoga done, will increase this next week to 15 mins, hoping by next week I should be getting some relief from my sore hip. DH bless him showed me an article for a new yoga class in our area but its £30 a month, one class a week. Not sure if this is a reasonable price or not. I've tried to join classes before but commitment is difficult as we never know how DD2 is on a daily basis. Plus I can think of better things to do with £30 at the moment. Although part of me wants to be selfish and go.
So I've added up my blowout =£660.53:eek:. Some I can justify in my head, some was budgetted for, others I can make up excuses as to why they were bought and other spends I just hang my head in shame. At least its not put us into debt:T. Need to rein our spending in and will target food shopping as we could eat out of the cupboards etc for at least the next month, would just need to buy fresh stuff.
Tonight taking DD2 for part of her christmas present (an experience rather than a physical present) and then out for tea with mum.
    TT of 43p
Hope you all have an mse day.

  • STT of £4.15. Made bread, flapjack and gluten free granola (should of been flapjack but didn't quite go right) and homemade pizza. Supported DD1 to make leek and potato soup, she's building up quite a list of foods to make from scratch, that are cheap and easy. Hoping this will prepare her for living away from home, when or if she goes to uni.A job I've been putting off for ages finally done and only took a couple of minutes to complete - hung new winter curtains behind summer ones for extra winter insulation. DD2 coming down with a cold, I suspect she will be off tomorrow. DH car going into get its winter tyres on so she'll have to get up early regardless tomorrow. DH been to the allotment to get veg for a stew, love stew.
We've decided to set ourselves some challenges before christmas.
Wk 1: no cheese:eek:, this is a major challenge as my lot inhale cheese. DD2 exempt from challenge as she needs the calories.DH has already started obsessing over the potenial lack of cheese:rotfl:
Wk2 : no meat. This one is easy for me as I don't eat it but DD1 and DH are up for it althoughDH has asked for 2 exemptions as he has 2 christmas dinners which have already been ordered that wk. Again DD2 exempt from challenge as she needs the calories.
Wk 3 : eat only from the cupboards, freezers and allotment (no stocking up the week before).
    Then its christmas week:j
Well time to get out of my pj's and walk the dog.

  • TT of 30p today. DH car has its winter tyres on, mine going on tomorrow. DD2 off school with a cold so took her to the garage and then my mum's in her pjs, when we got home she had an hour's sleep (always a good indicator if she is really ill).
DD1 and I started to look at Universities as school is having a careers evening soon. Had to abandon it, as she became really upset at the prospect of growing up, moving away, not sure what she wants to do other than something science based. Currently its a toss up between a chemistry or a environmental science degree. I think at 16 its so hard to decide what you want to be. But the reality of the situation is that we all know that plans need to flexible as you never know what life is going to throw at you. UNi isn't the be all and end all, we all important and have something to contribute to society, I think we often forget this.

That's so true ... if there's an apprenticeship scheme, for instance, in a discipline she really likes, that could suit her well. The only thing I'd say is that whatever she does, it'll help to have formal qualifications, whether its a uni degree or an apprenticeship - otherwise, you can easily get trapped with internal promotion within one company. Of course, one answer to that is to start your own company :) but that might be a bit much right now!

    Hope DD2 feels better tomorrow.

Winter tyres are on , bring it on frosty the snowman I'm ready:p. Been to the big indoor shopping centre near us as I needed new bras, as the ones I have are over stretched and not doing what they need to do. Its a good job I went to be measured as my size had changed which explains the overstretched part. Ummed and ahhed over several beautiful matching sets but put them back once i totted up the price and went with cheap and cheerful instead. Been and shopped for food and completed my advent challenge:j. TT of 70p.
So the university quest continues, been the supportive mum whilst she looks into things. It feels abit early to me , but apparently all her friends are looking so that is what we must do to. My cousin who is a science wizz has recommended a couple that he thinks would be worth looking at, on the bonus side they are within easy travelling distance but far enough away that she would have to live there. I don't mean that I want to get rid of her but I think it would do her good to be away from us, as her sister can be quite disruptive and demanding on everyone time and patience. DD1 would be able to be in a more relaxed atmosphere, not feel as if she has to walk around on eggshells sometimes. I'm not explaining myself very well I am. I leave that there I think.

I can absolutely understand the sense of what I think you're saying, CR, and I'm sure you're right - DD1 can have space to blossom by paying attention only to her *own* needs, not sibs, not other family, just herself. The classic student experience :):):)
