Thank you for all the replies. The stretch of the road definitely has HADECS 3 cameras on it.

I know I was pushing the speed a bit even at 77mph, only got up to 85mph to overtake.

So they HADECS 3 cameras. do they still require the white road markings to gauge your speed or can they get it without road markings?

Bolded bit - Do not whatever you do rely on this. Police forces are now using these cameras to enforce NSL when no speed limit shown. It's happening on M5 very close to the M42 in the same police force area (West Mercia). If there is a camera, you should assume it is always on, not the opposite, so this is poor advice.

Thanks for the advice and heads up.

No speed camera needs road markings. They never have. The road markings are only ever for being able to work out the speed of the vehicle after the picture was taken to see if the offence is valid. They are not required.

    Hi everyone, quick question.

Went on a drive today along the M42 and was on it between junction 2 and 6.

Quite a lot of cameras, i mostly drove at 75-77mph but when overtaking in the outside lane it gout up to 85mph to get past cars before moving back over.

I slowed down whenever I went across camera lines in the motorway to about 75-77mph and under.

I am very worried now about getting a ticket and points on my license. How quick do these letters normally arrive?

Thank you for any advice :)

As the limit is 70mph why do you not expect a speeding fine:eek:

I did not know that, every day is a school day!

I guess at this point all I can do is sit and stress out for up to 14 days as I do not know either way this is going to go for this dreaded letter.

I don't recall seeing flashes at anytime but I could easily miss one if it did flash as I am so focused on the road ahead.

You do realise that strech is coveted by more than one police force so you may get interest from more than one camera partnership?

What would that mean exactly? Surely only one potential ticket if I did get picked up by cameras?

If you went past multiple cameras at speeds they are triggered by you could get a ticket for each camera you were speeding past.

If happening at similar times, this can usually be treated as a single continuous offence. What Andy is referring to is that this can be hindered where different cameras are administered by different police forces - you might have to go to court to get it taken as a single continuous offence which might leave you with a higher fine.

Ah got you, I guess I just need to hope when I sped up to overtake in the outside lanes I did slow down enough for the cameras :(

    Lesson learnt.
