  • Alright, I just put in an online order for most of the items for the party and that came to €103.63. I was able to use a 5% off voucher code for a first time order. The total also includes items for the toilet cleaning/toilet tabs which cost about €8. That will be delivered early Thursday morning.

There is probably another €60's worth of food to buy over the next week and just general food for the house. We need eggs, veg and some fruit until the main order comes on Thursday. I'll also go to the butcher to get meat and other things. OH is going to cover the wine. I'm not going to count that in but I will take note of it. I'm actually trying to get him to not buy too much wine since I really don't think people will drink too much plus people will probably bring alcohol as a present anyway.

    TOTALS SO FAR:
    €184.88/€500.00
    0/12 NSD

Sig has been updated. I can't wait to stop spending money.

How much do others normally spend on adult birthday parties (especially for 25 - 30 people)?

  • So we did our big monthly shop. $125 at Ald! and that will cover 90% of what we need for a month. There is bound to be some additional spending. As my $150 budget for the month was a guess, I'm not too worried if I go over a very small amount. We have a freezer full of meat and lots of frozen veg, it's going to be bread and milk and a few extras. So here's hoping.

I've spent nothing yet this month, in fact I have had a net gain as my lodger has gone leaving me a box of bathroom stuff (soap, shampoo, spray cleaner etc) and also someone else gave me a nearly full sack of dog food. Little dog will take ages to get through that so no need to spend on dogfood for a couple of months!

I've been eating some slightly odd combinations though but that's ok there's only me. And I could do with a bit less weight anyway.

  • Not quite an NSD yesterday as I went to the farm shop for some poultry supplies, though I didn't buy anything on the human food front. And I've just bought more cat food online, so have updated the "Pet & Livestock" budget, which is going to go over my original estimate before the end of the year, although not by a huge amount. However the bulk-buy purse isn't, mainly because the farm shop haven't had any sacks of spuds in yet. Which is kind of interesting... haven't seen any at the market yet, either; I wonder what's up? And I suspect "up" is what it will be...

  • A 50p spend for a pint of milk. Only had that in my pocket, so no more spending possible!
Milk at the front of the shelf was BB 5th Sept. Reached a bit further back and got the 7th. Always pays to stretch!
Because it's fun to have money!

Hello, could I tag along please? I'd like to set my budget for £75 each week please. This is for four adults and one dog. I've had a good look and I'm pretty sure this will be achievable although it will be a case of weeks being over and under I'm sure! The dog food we buy in bulk and wont need any until next year anyway. I was going to start on a higher budget but the freezer is nicely stocked and cupboards too. I think £75 is pretty close to what I'm happy to be spending each week and will include all food, toiletries and cleaning supplies.

Went to town for hair cut, called to vets on way for worming tablets for dogs, topped up petrol tank using 10p off a litre, cards for upcoming birthdays, few bits in wilkos, 2 jars of coffee in Home Bargains which is the only thing I can count against budget
Do I need it or just want it.

I always do this with anything in the sm, not just the fridges either. :D As an ex-sm worker, I'm frequently dismayed at what often seems to be a lack of stock rotation.

First shop of the month today with delivery of an online order and it was a biggie. :o Tissues, kitchen roll, soda crystals and denture cleaning tablets (not counted in the grocery budget), some dairy (milk, cheese, cream) and the rest was all tins, packets, jars etc. Some of what we'd run out of, some of what we're about to run out of and the rest to satisfy my squirrel instinct that kicks in at this time of year in preparation for winter. ;)

This month I'll be concentrating on using up a fair bit of the freezer contents, partly because it needs using and partly to make room for frozen veg. Given this year's weather I'm expecting home-produced crops to be in short supply and therefore pricier so, although I prefer fresh, think it might be wise to have some frozen to fall back on. Not a fan of tinned veg either although if push comes to shove ....... :D

    Grocery spends came to £57.30.
Be kind to others and to yourself too.

I spent 89p in waitrose on a bag of macaroni. Used half to make a Mac cheese, ate 1/3 of that and put the rest in the freezer.
