First shop of the month done. It was a fairly big shop, as we were out of a few things. Total spend is £84.52/£250. I'm hoping that next weeks shop will be significantly less, as we also popped to the butchers today.
£13.43 spent in Home Bargains - got shampoo/conditioner, lightbulbs, rinse aid and washing machine cleaner. We won't need any more of these items this month, although we might be light on washig/dishwasher tablets so will probably see a largish spend here next week also.
£16.32 in Aldi on veg/fruit
£30.78 in Morrisons - mainly on bread, fruit that Aldi didn't have, yellow sticker items (sausages), butter muffins, toilet roll, and whilst the muller yogurts are on offer ten of them! Also got some new oven trays which upped the spend.
£23.99 at our butchers on 20 chicken breasts and a lamb shank.
We won't visit the butchers again this month, so next week should keep the costs down so it all averages out!February Grocery Budget: £190.75/£350.00

I've been away a long time and our finances are getting worse. So please put me down for $150 which is $5 a day for 2 adults and an elderly cat.0

Good morning everyone
first spend of the month yesterday £10+ at a Tesc* direct store. I did buy a pack of ys chicken drumsticks and a ys whole chicken. I cooked them when I returned home and will eat some for dinner today and freeze the rest.
Also picked up some packs of sweets, which were on offer. I will put them into birthday presents. i suppose these should not be included in GC as they were for gifts but I will.
Thankyou to Suffolk Lass for signposting me towards the store cupboard/freezer thread. I will have a wee look at it.0 -
£26.50 spent this morning, on meat (£17.50 for a joint of topside, a huge pack of steak mince, 5 pork steaks & 5 venison steaks) fruit & veg (£6 for 2 punnets of raspberries, 2 of blueberries, 3 x aubergines, a bag of shallots, a big paper bag of mushrooms and a bag of pears) and sea salt & peppercorns (£3) at the health food stall. I know you can get salt & pepper a lot cheaper, but I'm helping to keep a good & useful local business afloat by buying from them rather than W8rose. The venison steaks will probably be separated & frozen individually to go into stir-fries, as tender-hearted DS3 won't eat them as such but will eat almost anything (ostrich, for example) described as "meat" or "bird" in a stir-fry. Also one steak will feed 3 omnivores that way, and the girls will have the same veg stir-fried with mushrooms & cashew nuts.
Hoping we can get through the week with no further investment in fresh stuff, bar some bananas!Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
Morning all,
Just updating my last two spends, small shop on Thursday came to £6.25, £1.50 was on a birthday card, and then £51.56 was spent on Friday as a main shop for the week. Out of this £36.39 was on food which I am happy with, the rest was on housekeeping and toiletry bits.
Money is getting tighter, so I am going to try and stretch out the time before I shop again. I do have a stocked up freezer and pantry so will be ok. However, I am also trying to have stocks in ready for winter, it’s a balancing game.
Good luck to everyone else.

Thanks Elsiepac for setting this up for September. :A I've been away for a while on this thread as I got my shopping to £200 for myself and DS2 and never strayed over since getting into a routine. DS1 has come back to live at home so I need to get used to different shopping amounts, so I thought I would re-join. DS1 is working so putting in £25 per week for all food, toiletries, washing etc. I'm keeping a close eye on my expenditure as I don't want to derail my mortgage overpayments.
Please could you put me down for £300 for 3 adults and I'll see where that takes me. Currently spent £75 on a big Aldi shop which has more than 1 week's worth of some items, so hoping just to buy bread this week and I'll see what I have left by next Saturday for the other foods. I include all consumables in my budget including food and bedding for one very small bunnyThis month will also include a birthday meal - most likely pizzas and making a cake. No takeaways as we prefer home cooked food and we don't drink alcohol except at special occasions.

£13.60 today which has covered quite a bit of this week's list, but I'll still need to pop back a few times, and I'm aiming to buy meat for the first time in ages so I'll be looking in the reduced aisle but it'll still be the more expensive part of the list...

Weekend spends were £17.30 in Aldi, and £9.02 in Tesco for the bits I couldn't pick up Aldi leaving me with a total of £29.49 for the week.
This is down from between £40 and £50 a week for the past few months so I am delighted - although I didn't buy any meat this week as I am eating from the freezer. However I forgot to get the cakes needed for my colleagues and now will have to eat into next week's budget for that... does anyone have recommendations for the best place to get cakes/treats? I need to bring enough for about 15 people!Trying to make my way on my MSE adventure.. Debt free since June 2018:j
