    debt 2016 = £21,000. debt 2021 = £0!!!!
  • £3.40 spent yesterday - first spend of the month
  • No money spent yet but am spending my lunchtime today writing out the shopping list for the weekend! So far have decided on falafel with homemade coleslaw & brown rice for lunches and chicken & bean stew for dinners next week, with some freezer meals thrown in so I don't get bored!

Have to keep the spend below £30 this week to ensure I stay on budget - a normal weekly food shop for me is between £40-£50 so I hope I am not being too optimistic!

    Hi highlander fing

I'm lucky enough that I work in retail so I always keep a eye out on yellow tags stuff also we get a 1p deal on items that can't be sold to customers. I'm new to gc too so will be interesting to see how I get along with it.

I have got a well stocked store and freezers. I do grow some of my own fruit and veg. At the moment I don't go out for meals etc just have friends over for dinner etc.

I have done my first month meal planner! !! Yesterday I made hm veg soup enough for the freezer plus 2 lunches. Also made a sausage and bean casserole same as the soup some in the freezer.

I do have a very sweet tooth so will need to get baking some cookies.... got all the ingredients just need to try it out lol!!

I love jacket spuds too so a few of them a week too.

Would you be willing to share your meal plan or if not PM me. I am vegan, so can adapt most recipes. Thanks.

  • Hi All,
I need to reduce the general shopping bill for my DH and three cats. It's currently hovering around £100 a week. I will start the challenge properly next month as we're over a week into DH's salary month. In the meantime, I'll be researching the recipes and other nuggets of wisdom to be had on this thread.

I'm hoping to reduce my outlay by cooking from scratch more often and eating less meat, as the cats absolutely refuse to!

    Thanks
    OCTOBER £280 spent £341.10
    NOVEMBER 2018 £350 (5 week month) spent £344.93.
  • Hello everyone,

Please can you put me down for £400 for September, my budget runs from 1st-30th September and includes all food, cleaning products and drinks but not eating out.

That's for 2 adults, a nearly 4 year old and an 11 month old.

Thanks Elsiepac for setting up the new challenge.

    More tea please

Another shop for me, I spent £13.72 in Tesco which leaves me £86.34 for the rest of the month,I don't need any shopping now though,I'm making curry tomorrow with Quorn chicken pieces from the freezer and that will feed me my evening meal for 4 days,I'm working tomorrow but leaving early so will just need a packed lunch but I have the stuff for that,I might buy some flour on the way home tomorrow to make a banana bread and maybe some biscuits rather than buying them
I'm also fortunate to have my own hens so if I'm at home I usually have an egg based lunch
    Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,120
