  • First proper shop of the month - £21.52 which puts me on £24.92/£240
  • First small spend of this month at Lidl of top up items at £3.17. Hoping to keep the rest of the spend below the £30 for next week but I have had notification that I passed my Masters Qualification yesterday!! So my team at work will be expecting cakes and sweets next week which will eat into the budget!

    Congrats luckoftheirish!

We overspent a little this month, and in Sept we have a wedding (will give them £50 and need to pay for a taxi) and a couple of days out with friend's planned. If I can shift some of the grocery budget into other places it'd be a great help.

Tomorrow will be the most expensive shop of the month, as we have a neighbour coming for supper. Normally I wouldn't arrange something like that in such a lean month but he's in his 70s and I think we account for a fair slice of this social life, so I'm going ahead anyway! He's not short of a bob or two so always brings gorgeous wine.

I'm just going to do nibbles, a mushroom bourgignon type thing, rice, greens and rhubarb crumble (rhubarb from garden). If I have the energy tomorrow I'll make plum jam and give him a jar to take home. Will get a bottle of fizz and some red (some of which will go into the mushroom stew) tomorrow from Lidl. As everything can be done in the morning I can just chat and relax, which will be lush.

Have mealplanned for the next week. DH works away Mon-Thurs and gets fed in hotels/restaurants so that's a big help. I'm happy with lentil soup and beans on toast, as is DD :)
  • So I never ever online shop as I always thought it to be the most expensive option, but as I am focusing on tackling this HUGE grocery spend I decided to see how much it would be on MySupermarket to shop at T*sco from my list, as I have £3 off a £20 spend voucher.

It comes out at £29.16 and with the £3 off that would be £26.16 so just under budget for the week including the few bits I picked up yesterday - question is: is this still better value than going to A*di and hoping that it is cheaper?! It is hard to know as they don't advertise their prices as easy so I am not sure what to do for frugality purposes haha... this saving money thing is hard :rotfl:!

If anyone has any tips, send them over!

Is Aldi not on MySupermarket for you? Both Aldi and Lidl show on mine!

No, Aldi and Lidl are both blank on my options! How strange.. I can see the comparison with the other big supermarkets but not the 'smaller' ones!

    Morning all!

I'm going for £200 for all of September. Money envelopes are done with £50 per week in each, going from Sat 1st to Friday 28th September.

They will be blank if you have pre-selected online delivery. If you do the in-store comparison I think they will appear for you

I find ALDI the best for price and quality, but i'm vegetarian, so I suppose it depends on what you're buying :D
