Do you trust Financial Ombudsman?

Just back on topic, FOS Agent has been in touch to advise a final decision will be issued either today or Monday. The Agent did advise that it was impossible for his office to quantify in financial terms how much compensation would be due for not having access to my account for four months. The nominal £50 he has suggested is as much to do with TSB covering the issue as anything else.
Are you able to confirm if this is a final decision as in an "ombudsman's final decision", or is this the view of an adjudicator?urs sinserly,

It's the adjudicator's provisional decision with the final due by Monday at the latest. As it stands I'm only getting £50 due to TSB making the erroneous statement to the Ombudsman's office that I had not registered for online banking.0 -

Yeah definitely take that to a final ombudsman's decision then, specifying that, and also explaining the impact on you that's precipitate entirely from TSB's failings. FOS does spit out funny decisions on occasion, and that does sound like one of them.urs sinserly,

It looks like I'll have to if this is the final decision, I'm not quite sure why it's taking until Monday to confirm.
The Agent did ask what I was seeking in term of loss of account access, I simply said more than £50.0 -
There has been talk that the goodwill/inconvenience payments have been getting out of control. Even rejected complaints without a case to answer have been getting £50-£100 just because the person had to take it to the FOS (to then be rejected again).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

I thought that would happen and as I wasn't with TSB very long when the IT issues occurred I feel they used the registration aspect as a cloak to deflect my complaint. If what you're saying is true £50 sounds like the going rate.0 -

Which is stupid. Complaints should be on their merits and you shouldn't get money just for going to FOS. It defeats the entire purpose if you get money just for escalating to what is supposed to be an impartial arbitrator.urs sinserly,

Agreed but this sounds inline with what the FOS Agent told me in that there is a general cap around the £50 mark for most TSB complaints.0 -

Now THAT is actually something that'd be controversial if true! I can't even think what the rationale would be for that.
Do also mention that when rejecting the £50...urs sinserly,

It may explain why my ceiling is £50 or the adjudicator could have been trying to justify his sum total to me.0
