I've bought a couple of pressies in the past from a website called Gemondo which I have always been pleased with. You get a fiver towards your order when you sign up and they also give you more points on what you buy. They have loads to chose from. When I have ordered, my jewellery has arrived with in a couple of days, so I have always been happy with the service. They have information about buying jewellery on the site too. The address is www.gemondo.co.uk Your 'wife to be' might want to also try it for wedding jewellery too as I know they have tiaras - but you might want to save money by not telling her about the site at all!0

we searched long and hard to get a good deal for our engagement ring and our wedding rings.
the engagement ring was cheaper by far in Northern Ireland.... about £700 cheaper than for the exact same ring in our home town of Oxford. (paid for the flights to see the family)
the wedding rings were bought from THE JEWELLERY QUARTER in BIRMINGHAM. because of all of the shops being right next to each other, you can get a great deal and haggle the price down. our rings cost less than any internet sites (and we searched and searched before we went).
If you live anywhere near Birmingham.... go there.0 -
I am much more keen on brown and champagne diamonds than the regular ones as an engagement ring. I have really struggled however, to find one to buy! I recently found one from HSamuel: 1/2 carat brown diamond with a 9ct gold band for £399 (reduced from £599).
From reading this thread tho, I have been put off slightly about comments about their quality... do you think its a bad idea to buy this type of diamond from them?0 -
My partner got my engagement ring off an ebay shop back in October- we got it valued and resized at local jewellers (only 1/2 size out- not bad!) and it was valued at 4times what he paid for it. Know this cos i put it on home insurance and was very shocked at value until he explained!!
Think if your careful and check out the sites then you can get a bargain.:j0 -

This is it:
VVS is an absolute must :j The local jeweller I took it to for resizing a couple of months back was more than complimentary about the diamonds - they're very clear, white and sparkly. He valued it at £1,500 for sale purposes
There are some very unscrupulous 'jewellers' on ebay though, I checked out quite a few of them, there were some real horrors so I'm not too surprised at the £80 re-stocking fee. I don't know how these people stay in business... small print, I suppose0 -

Hi, just a thought but it might be worth looking on ebay for tesco clubcard coupons (the mailings are coming out imminently) buying 500 quids worth of tesco vouchers and then exchanging them for Goldsmiths vouchers - this means you'd in effect get 2000 quid for a 500 quid spend and might make your money go a little bit further........
'Goldsmiths tokens ......will be issued with the name shown on your Clubcard vouchers'.
In other words, I don't think you can pool together lots of different clubcard vouchers from different cards (I wish!) so make sure you buy enough from the same clubcard. Check the rules first too on the Tesco website.
The Tesco mailings are coming out the last 2 weeks in Feb. Can't wait to get my jewellery but need to somehow find another 1000 (£40) in points before the cut off date on 31st Jan .:p Ideas that don't involve buying the vouchers gratefully received.
best wishes0 -

I bought my family's clubcard deals off them ( the same surname name ) and also some sellers on ebay sell 500 extra tokens - I bough a deal recently and if you spend £50 on Tescos website ( remember bogof etc don't come off your total so if you managed to buy all bogof you would only have to spend £25 to get 500 extra points = £20 off goldsmiths)
Good luck K
p.s. would recommend Goldsmiths got a 0.5 Carat Diamond white gold ring for £495 _ £220 vouchers + £275 see it recently in H Samuels for £800 !!!!
Don't know much about clarity, cut etc but it shines & looks beautiful (I'm a bit of a magpie no expert on diamonds)Busy mum of 3, so if my posts don't make sense or ask a silly question be patient:rotfl:0 -
