do you have an elderly relative?
they have other uses other than just B and Q wednesdays you know....
I take my excess large rubbish and fridges when I go round to my dad's. He is over 60. He calls our same council, and he gets it collected for free, whereas I'd have to pay £25.
sometimes i make him come and collect it too!
I like it.
done it myself actually.
Along the same lines, my MIL (who is 67) comes round my house most days to look after the bambinos. The local window cleaner who I have never met cleans my windows front and back for half price because he thinks its her house and so she gets senior citizen discount.

#1. The people that run these "sell your house and rent back" companies are generally lying thieves and are best avoided
#2. This time next year house prices in general will be lower than they are now
#3. Cheap houses are a good thing not a bad thing0 -
I would take some photos of it and put it in the 'freebies' section on Gumtree. You'd be surprised at the things that people will come and collect. I've got rid of quite a few useless bits and pieces of furniture and odds and ends just as advertising them for 'free to whoever will collect'. There might be someone out there who would want it for scrap or something. It is free to post on Gumtree, so you have got nothing to lose.
Good luck with getting rid of it.0 -
Copper prices have been ridiculous lately and steel scrap prices have also been high. If its a large and heavy item it shouldnt be difficult to find someone to collect it to weigh in? If they deal in scrap and they charge you more than a token fee they are ripping you off imo.
Paul.
Ps I know they shouldnt do it but you'll find that most of them arent exactly fussy if it means profit.0 -
where abouts you based?
i had a lot of crap cleared recently by a company called
www.allyourjunk.com .
was a friendly guy called Tristan (unfortunately was South African though, so was difficult talking about the rugby!)
charges £25 for fridge removal job done, who cares and in future now you know not to phone the council until you've moved it onto the public footpath

I'm not sure why you feel this is the council's responsibility. Just sort it out yourself - stick it in the back of your car and take it to the tip.
Ok, it's a nasty thing to do to have it dumped there in the first place but I am unclear why you think taxpayers should pay to clear up your problem.0 -
Because if it had been dumped the other side of the garden wall, it would be the council's responsibility, usually with something large they are obliged to clear it within 24 hours.0

I paid £10 to have the council collect rubbish from my BTL. I gave the guys a fiver for a beer too.

I actually worked in a waste collection dept of a council and we had to collect numerous fridges every day what people had dumped and they also had to be removed within 48 hours. If I was you I would call your local paper that will get it moved quickly!! They hate bad publicity:D
Also I dont see why you should have to pay to have it moved when some lowlife has dumped it on your property in the hope you will take care of it.
Good Luck0
