Can't afford a paper, I spend all my money on fags and nights out on the lash while palming my kids off to anybody who'll have them

Be amazed how quick these things can be resolved when the press calls the local councilor.
Tell them local kids are playing hide and seek in it and that you are recording the conversation to prove you asked them to remove it because you wnat to remove your own liability in case one of them gets trapped.0 -
I own a flat which we've been doing up for a few months and have secured tenants who are moving in next weekend.
The flat is empty and we don't live in the area, we were away for a week to come back and discover a huge disgusting rusty fridge freezer dumped on our path of our front garden meaning access in and out of the flat is almost impossible.
I called the local council who said its tough as its on private property and they can't help. I've paid council tax on the property since I've owned it, even had a skip at the property the month before to legally dispose of building materials we had and now this.
I said to the council if I was on benefits, disable or a single mum you'd move it free of charge and by not doing you are discriminating me. They said they go out and have a look but that was days ago and they've not got back to me despite promising to.
They even had the cheek to say if I move it onto the path (i.e. the public highway) they know who I am now they will prosecute me £20,000!
I have tenants moving in next week who won't be able to move their furniture in and I refuse to pay to get it removed.
Any advice?????
I would make a call to the local Police office for advice, whilst I don't know what the specific legalities of this are I am sure the local Police will have an idea of what law has been broken, theft of service perhaps, since you are the one having to pay the bill to remove it rather than the culprit.
It is likely that the person who dumped it lives locally, if you do pay to have it removed they and their friends may take you for a soft mark and dump further items on your property in the future.0 -
You cannot put it in a skip.
If you can get it into your car, you can take it to a special fridge recycling point, but the reason that they are getting dumped, is it now costs to get rid of a fridge.
On the other hand, if you are planning on buying a new one for your tenanted property, keep this one, as it will probably get you a 'green' discount on buying a new one.0 -
Talk to your local councillor and make a polite point. Accept that this may be policy but you feel you have been treated badly.
If you speak to him NICELY without comparisons to stereotypes, you MAY get on his good side and it MAY disappear.
Things light streetlights appear very quickly when you speak to the right people, the same street lights that were on a 6 month waiting list.Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -
Could you check to see if there's any frozen peas in it? I'm running a bit short!0

I think I should just give up work, have 10 kids and get a free house as they'd move it then!
And all before your tenants are due to move in? Blimey girl!
Serious answer: Pay for a man with a van to take it to the tip or wherever dead fridges are laid to rest. Can't you put it down as a tax deductible expense?↑ Things I wouldn't say to your face

Have you considered that might be how the fridge ended up in the garden of the OP in the first place?--
Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.0 -
