Tidying madly all around so that when J arrives to help me by doing some cleaning she can get to surcfaces. Week 1 I think the best we can manage is if she does all the dusting, top to bottom and then the vacuuming, I'll do the bathrooms. She's here for three hours, so if she's got any time left, I'll ask her to wash the floors.

In the meantime The Door Doctor has been and fixed the sitting room French window, the kitchen door and one of the shower room windows. They've all been on the wonk for years and he had them sorted in about an hour, although he was seriously flat out for the entire time. A bit £££ but worth it because I'm pretty sure the day was about to come when all three would have just collapsed because two of them have been faulty ever since I moved in 25 years ago and the shower room window died through over use. I'm so relieved we sold the chalet and can get all of this stuff done. We've been meaning to get all of this stuff done for ages, and it's finally coming together because I/we have time to think about it and organise it.
    Better is good enough.

Bit late but I'm in ... sort of. Finding it tricky juggling looking after kids and taking them out, working and riding too so doing odds and ends as I'm able to.

Big hugs to those who need them x

LW, I did google, but then I did my own thing.
    About 350g frozen peas
2 tablespoon olive oil (NOT cooking oil)
1 piece of garlic, break it up, or a good squeeze from the ready made squeezed garlic in my fridge!
(It said 1/3 cup if fresh mint leaves) I picked / washed / checked over a good hand full of mint from the garden.
I put the whole lot in a large bowl, and magic whisked it up, I guess a liquidiser / nutra bullet or similar would do as well.
Once it is broken down and fine, I put it in a plastic pot and stuck it in the fridge to cool.
Eat with salad/ dip sticks ie carrots / cue etc.

I can bring you some over if you want to try it, tomorrow, I have made more about 10 mins ago. (pm me your address if you want some)

Google pea and mint dips, loads came up, all very similar to each other, some added chilli flakes which I hate, but each to their own.

    Shopping is done
    Post is posted.
Market walked around (didn't take long)
Plus I 'think' we are about to get a Lidl, that should bring prices down around here for food.
Fish fed as NN are away.

  • The kitchen is an unusable health hazard again.

And there's a new job to add to the list.

Trail across town in the vague hope that the camping shop will have exactly the right length of fibreglass poles - or buy another tent - as Himself decided to put it up in the garden, didn't bother checking for instructions, tried to force one pole into too small a bend, snapped it, then proceeded to do exactly the same with the other one.

I suppose at least he's stuffed it up here rather than in the middle of nowhere.

Turn out J is rather more thorough than I'd anticipated. She spent an hour on the sitting room which looks so much better and half an hour on the dining room which just looks better but wasn't bad anyway and isn't the dustmagnet the sitting room is.

I spent an hour in the shower room which is now sparkly and an hour on the area between the shower room and back door, which is an hour more than it usually gets. If we can get the house to an accceptable standard by Christmas I'll be happy and it'll be worthwhile.

While that was going on someone made an offer on something that automatically relisted on The Bay of E and then wanted something else that happened to be lying around, so that's more two large bits of clutter gone.

    I need another shower.
    Better is good enough.
  • I'm over fifty quid poorer now.

On the way to source replacement pole sections (which I am not convinced will work, but he refused to listen to the bloke in the shop telling him where he could the right ones), he mentioned that he had lost my sleeping bag, chucked away the bed roll, lost my enamel mug at the weekend and intended to put all his clothes in my daypack.

I now have a three seasons single sleeping bag, a single inflatable mattress and a new head torch, as the old one apparently 'fell to pieces' when he went to replace the batteries.

As a closer inspection reveals that he appears to have chucked twenty quid away on a single skinned dome tent with reviews that say it leaks from first use, rather than thirty quid on a double skinned pop up, I have a feeling that I could be sleeping in the production office. Alone.
