I've got a mini filing cabinet money box... Everything 5p and under and found change goes in it (and is entered into a spreadsheet or I HAVE to count it every other second!) That is in the top drawer. This is my hobby money!
The bottom drawer is for bagged change (and the bags) ready to go to the bank. The bottom drawer used to be for £2 coins but now they get used up and the appropriate no of £2s get transferred to my £2 saving account for flat stuff (saving for a sofa... lol... its going to be a while :rotfl: )Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

So I am not the only one with a growing collection of money boxes then:rotfl:
I have the following:
A piggy bank for coppers. These are for DS. When it is full he gets to spend them on a treat - usually a toy car
A tin you have to open with a tin opener that has my £2 and £1 coin collection in it
A money box for 5p pieces
Another money box for other silver
I am also planning on getting a tin for mortgage overpayments when the debt is gone:j

Well i glad im not stark raving mad as he made me out to be. It turns out he didnt realise what they were all for and he has been sticking his change(yipee he always has loads) in whatever one he saw first so i will have a bit of sorting out to do but now he understands to throw it in the tub by the computer and i will sort it out. He also just told me his sister has bought me another money box for christmas from her little boy so i have a spare one now!!!

I have seen them somewhere, maybe in the studio cards catalogue. It's a rectangular shaped tin with compartments marked for gas electric, that sort of thing.
My dd had one that was like 5 towers, one each for £1 ,50p ,20p ,10p and 5p, there was a hole at the top of each tower and a chain ran through all the holes and had a padlock on it. Mind that was a while ago, I think about the time the £1 coins came in. Ooops, does that date me:rotfl:
I just use pasta sauce jars for £1 + £2 coins, well sealed and covered with parcel tape, so I can't even see how much is in there, but they are getting heavier.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0 -
I have a money box for £2 coins, one for £1 coins and a decorated (and very well washed!) pringles tube for everything else. Last time I emptied them was in July for holiday money and I'll be emptying them again soon for Christmas. Actually, I have to admit that I emptied my £1 money box back in May because I'd seen some fabulous Nine West shoes and I knew I had enough in there to pay for them! The woman in House of Fraser didn't look too pleased when I turned up with 60 £1 coins!!! LOL!
EXCELLENT IDEA!!
i've started collecting 20p's this week to go towards over paying my mortgage and i was using an envelope until i found a mortgage piggy!!! But i've just stolen my daughters pringles tube.....it was empty anyway...honest!!!0 -
Oh my goodness I forgot about those ones with all the different tubes for different coins. There were markers up the side so you could see how much you had of each coin!
Ever since I can remember my dad collected 20ps in what we called the puzzle pot, au, um, pot with a lid that would only go on one way. Then when the new 5ps came out and were all small and fiddly he started collecting those in it too. A few months ago when I mentioned my terramundi he disclosed that he always paid them into a TESSA/ISA when it was full, the account is now worth over £4000 he saved in this way over the years!!!0
