Well I'm totally sick and tired of MS and getting absolutely nowhere!

    Here's my story:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=6853193#post6853193

Since then, I've still no the console back, I've not had any reply to my emails, faxes or letters and not only that but the other Xbox console we had in our house has now gone bust again too!!!! That will be the fifth time between the two consoles.

Needless to say I have a very upset son who now can't play his games and a partner who's grumping about not being able to use his console either.

    What do I do?

Partner suggested having the 2nd console repaired by MS even if it does take months to come back or disappear like the first one seems to have done, buy an Elite and then when we get the 2nd one back, sell it.

But what if we have the same problems with an Elite, it's still MS we're dealing with after all!

Please, please please someone tell me how I can get MS to sit up and take notice!

  • I've found MS to be very helpful on the phone. They currently have my console due to a problem. It wsa within warranty though the product number said it was out of warranty. I provided proof of purchase and they've gratuitously extended warranty another year due to inconvenience they caused..

This was all done on the phone however. I was ignored through emails and their support ticket system, but when I rung and explained the problem, I exaplained in a way to get sympathy from the guy to think "if this was me, I'd be upset". And he was very helpful and its all sorted.

Ring, be calm, be friendly, ask how it can be resolved quickly as thats all you want from christmas :) You may be surprised!

Believe me, I've tried all these ways! lol

At this time of posting, my partner is on the phone yet again. He was told his call would be passed through to a supervisor and so far he's been hanging on for 47 minutes!

    Arrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhhh
  • Return the console to the retailer. the xbox 360 is inherently faulty when sold and the retailer is responsible for putting it right.

But they were purchased from Gamestation in May and September 06, isn't that too late to take them back there now?

Why is it too late? Under the sale of goods act it is the retailer who is responsible for repairing faults. The Sale of Goods act covers goods for a reasonable time up to six years from purchase.

  • Superscaper is right.

They can't say it only has 12 month warranty as statue ensures you have cover thats suitable.

    So give it a try!

Well still no further forward with this one.

I spoke with Trading Standards people and they tell me that I can get a claim from from my Credit Card issuer (or rather the person who bought the consoles can) and under Section 75 of the Sale of Goods Act, we can possibly get some money back - minus use.

Is this what you were meaning Superscaper? If so, thanks for your reply.

I am writing this thread for the benefit of anyone who has purchased an Xbox 360 or thinking of getting one for Christmas.

In December 2006, my wife purchased an Xbox 360 Console as my Christmas present. It cost around £300.00 and came with the 20GB hard drive and all the bells and whistles. Quite frankly, this was the Full Monty of the gaming scene.

I was thrilled and delighted as I unwrapped the box and set up the shiny, new system on top of my TV stand. I was, as you say, there dude! I was prepared to kill off any alien critter within a mile of my wireless controller.

Four month's later, the unthinkable happened; I was shooting my way through a host of enemy cretins and suddenly the screen froze and three red lights appeared on the front of the console.

I later learned that this was sounded the death knell for the Xbox 360, and had become a £300.00 'brick' that was now stuck on my TV stand. I contacted Xbox Customer Service and spoke to someone who didn't speak 'so good English'. I proceeded to tell him my woe's.

The next day I waved goodbye to my console as the UPS man carried it away under his arm and into his big, brown truck. That was March 2007.

Three weeks later the console arrived and I opened everything up and placed it back on my TV stand. Everything was right with the world again........until this past October when I inserted a disk in the system and it refused to recognize the disk.

I received a message in 14 different languages that clearly said "Please insert this disk into an Xbox 360 Console". Oh my goodness, I shouted with great joy because for a moment I thought that someone had replaced my Xbox 360 with a Sony Playstation 3!

No such luck! I contacted the friendly man on the 800 Microsoft helpline who didn't speak 'so good English' and told him my story. Again, I greeted the UPS man who scanned my package and drove away in his big, brown truck.

In the process of all my trouble, my wife convinced me to write a complaint letter to Microsoft head office and tell them my story.

Last week, I got a nice email from one of their 'escalation associates' who apologized for my trouble and offered to keep my questionable console and ship me a brand new model.

He also gave me a list of items and told me to pick two things that he would send me in the post. Here is the list that he sent:

    Kameo
    Project Gotham Racing 3
    Viva Pinata
    Gears of War
    Forza Motorsport 3
    Perfect Dark Zero
    Crackdown
    Wireless Headset
    Wireless Controller
    Live Vision Camera

I didn't recognize any of the games, so I picked the wireless controller and the Live Vision Camera. Those items should arrive in a few days.

Today, I received the Xbox Console back from UPS and again, and unfortunately, it was not the brand new one that had been promised, but repaired.

I got back on the phone with the 'escalation specialist' and told him the problem and he apologized again, issued me with yet another UPS return form and today I watched my package disappear with the UPS man.

I cannot say that I am totally disappointed with the customer service that I received from Microsoft head office in Buckinghamshire, but my advice to anyone who is experiencing problems with their Xbox console is to not contact the 800 number with the anticipation of getting something more than someone who will send you a UPS label for pick-up.

    WRITE A LETTER!

I will post the results of my ordeal when the new console arrives by UPS hopefully by next week

Did you get anywhere with this?

What e-mail address did you send it to or Snail Mail?
