Since the last time I updated the household has spent €125.43. €10 of that was vanilla extract which has gotten really expensive lately. There were other re-stock items in there and catering for friends that came over, etc. I got some travel snacks this evening on the way home and I'm traveling for a weekend away later this morning. So, I'm just going to declare for the month. The expat store really killed me. I would've come in just at my limit most likely. Phooey.
FINAL TOTALS:
€438.74 / €300.00
17 / 12 NSD
My birthday party is next Saturday and while I'm away this weekend I'll start working on my grocery shopping list and put in an order. That will all go in September's budget and some of the food I buy on vacation will be used as stocking up for the party as well.
See you all on the September thread!0 -
I went out yesterday with my youngest daughter to do a little bit of shopping. I came away practically empty handed; but spends on foods were a bit more, as i managed to grab a few things that are normally not available to me or more expensive.
Food spends were as follows:
£5.69 in Home Bargains
£5.68 in Tesco
£0.99p in Lidl
£2.98 in Holland and Barrett
£0.55p in Asda.
£4.04 in work the day before

Hello,
Since my last post we've spent a fair bit and I'm declaring at £328.33/£500 for August.
Happy with that as a starting point, going to head over to September challenge and set a new goal.
Thanks0 -
Week 5 (this week): £71.50 left in the budget but very little shopping needed so I've kept £1.50 in my purse (for milk) and have moved the £70 left into next month's grocery pot. :j
Mmm, that didn't quite work out.Went to the Co-op today for the milk and ended up with a bill for £15.88. Not too bad though as that included two small boxes of Prosecco chocolates reduced from £5 to £2.50 each (Xmas pressies), a couple of multi-save buys, a ys bag of sugar snap peas and several clearance items (x3 tins Homepride curry sauce 45p each, a jar of Sharwoods Tikka Masala sauce £1, x3 packets of Colmans Tuna Pasta Bake 40p each and a bag of Fruit Pastilles 50p). It isn't often I get many bargains at the Co-op so I'm pleased with what I bought.
And on the way home I picked some blackberries so I now have about 1kg in the freezer.
I've spotted a good place to collect crab apples so that's next week's mission.
£55.62 left in the August pot and there will be a little more spent tomorrow at the market but I'm well stocked up to start next month.Be kind to others and to yourself too.0 -
So, I have gone slightly over budget, but in general, I'm very happy with our food shop budget this month.
Total spend = £253.69/£250.00
I know I've overspent by £3.69 but that is much better than last months spend which was £356!
September will be more difficult as we have another weekend (total of 5) which is an extra shopping trip.February Grocery Budget: £190.75/£350.00

Hoping to have a NSD tomorrow, went through all my reciepts and have tallied up correctly..

Crawls out from under a rock to admit to another £5.25 today! In my defence, we're still just under budget and we've had OH home all week, which has massively increased usage of bread & milk, two of the three items that had to be topped up today. The third was orange juice, which DS3 thrives on, and I bought a 4-carton pack as it's better value & means I won't have to rush to L!dls too early in September.
Sometimes it's easy to see why we suffer from budgetary drift... The one consolation is that as of midnight, we've run out of month. Time to pull the belts in another notch for September!Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
Spent £5.90, which is £3.13 over, but I'm going to declare @ £80 and carry the £3.13 overspend to September, so it gets accounted for. See you in September everyone - have a lovely w/e0

Morning all!
Checked my totals last night, and I've spent £168.36 of £230.00 budget, so £61.64 left over this month!
I used my wee brown envelopes this month for the first time, and tried to use only the cash in the envelope for food for that week. I've tried really hard to not just buy the foods I normally buy without thinking every week, and to have more of a meal plan idea before I start shopping.
£61.64 is going into my christmas present fund, so I'm pretty happy with that!!0 -
Small shop in Aldi, bread, eggs, butter, sweet pots, a swede and stick of celery, £6.74 so finishing August £57 under budget grocery wise, but had massive other spends.
Bonus of a bit of space appearing in freezers in time for Christmas goodies.Do I need it or just want it.0
