A year to the day. Very sad for all employees of Primera, but a very cruel twist for the ex Monarch staff.
As ever, it's the hard working staff who did everything they could every day that suffer at the hands of poor management making incredibly questionable decisions.0 -
So Primera emails promising to reimburse the cost of same-day Air Canada tickets bought at high cost in good faith to get my elderly parents home may now be worthless
Surely the only credit card I can pursue is the one I bought the (quarter of the price) Primera tickets on? As the outbound flight functioned does that mean that I can only pursue the credit card for half the Primera charge?
Any advice would be gratefully received. The cow is of the bovine ilk,

Yes it will be the credit card that you booked the Primera flights on.
You will need to file a section 75 claim. Under section 75 the credit card company is jointly liable with the retailer for the goods or services. Primera failed to provide your flight home so you had to make alternative arrangements, which Primera agreed to pay for. So now that Primera are insolvent, claim from your credit card. Submit the emails from Primera as evidence.
It’s likely your credit card company will try and fob you off. Be polite and persistent.0 -
Thanks bagand96 - I'll let you know how I get on.The cow is of the bovine ilk,

Hello all. Sorry if it’s been mentioned like salt in a wound but have you seen Primera Airs news of filing for bankruptcy?0
-
Wait. I see it has. Apologies. I’ve been waiting for a refund for cancelled flights since July.0

I've been waiting since July for a compensation as well. I'm an American so I'm not sure of the European codes apply to me? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Hi,
Unfortunately you are very unlikely to receive anything now that Primera have gone into administration. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -
Eureka!
Section 75 claim has worked - sort of. After about 9 letters being exchanged the credit card company have refunded the cost of the Primera tickets. This is about half what it cost to get my parents and I home, so still nearly £2.5k out of pocket for the homeward flight, but much better than nothing.
Not sure whether to persist to try to get the rest on the grounds that the contract with Primera was varied by Primera by virtue of the cancellation email promising to refund alternative tickets and provide EU compensation. What do others think? The cow is of the bovine ilk,
