In ten years and 90,000 miles of owning my Nissan Almera I only changed the oil about 3 times.
It having no oil is not a good enough reason to not work.
The point is that they might argue that the issue developed after purchase and that failing to check the oil contributed to the failure. Remember that in a civil court it is 51/49% certainty, which may or may not work in favour of the dealer.0 -

Sorry what?
Show me a car with a petrol/diesel engine that doesnt need oil for it not to seize.
Well done for driving 30K miles between oil changes - sounds like you should never sell that Alerma for anything less than £395.0 -

Car is BMW X1
Incident where car failed happened on motorway.
Dealer accepts no liabilities
Engine 4 days out of warranty - no good will from warranty assist or dealer.
I have looked under car and sump plug looks either loose or damaged
All I know on motorway within 30 secs abs light Amber oil light then red light then car cut out.
No oil on driveway previously.
Is it possible that a foreign object hit underside of car and damaged oil area contributing to oil leak and engine failure ? Insurance may pay out?0 -

Not a chance. When did you last check the oil level?0 -
Oil is checked on long journeys I have only done a couple anyway and the car is just over 3 months from last MOT service.
No previous warnings lights or leaks virtually instant on the motorway.
30 seconds on the motorway max from light to cut out and then to move over to hard shoulder.
My only thought is was the car serviced incorrectly , is this a major fault on BMW X1 E84 2011 engines ? Did An object actually puncture plug or damage resulting in oil leak with object on motorway?
What would your opinion be or what would you advise ?
