I haven’t implied anything of the sort. If someone is prepared to state that the trade deal with the EU is going to be the easiest in history, then either they really haven’t thought about and recognised the possible risks - or they’re being deliberately disingenuous. Neither of which is an attractive quality in a member of the government.

The statement you suggest was made was not made. Unfortunately you’ve been mugged off by some third rate journalist who’s done the usual and chopped up a quote, added a different word or two of their own and changed the context of what was actually said.

I’d have thought a clever chap/chapess like yourself would be able to see through such a basic trick.

So are you saying Brexiteers forsaw this and are all making a mint out of the stock market?

    I somehow doubt this.

I thought Brexit was going to make us all better off financially?

Brexit was going to give the NHS 350 Million quid a week, from day one.I saw it on the side of the Brexit bus.It must be true.

In which case why don’t you tell us exactly what was actually said.

There’s no need to be so defensive.

Not being defensive, just curious. So from your link:

“Coming to a free trade agreement with the EU should be "one of the easiest in human history" because our rules and laws are already the same, the international trade secretary has said.”

Which is pretty much exactly what I said. I concede I left out “human”, but it’s effectively tautological anyway; as there probably weren’t many trade deals being done before humans evolved.

The point remains - either he hadn’t thought about what could go wrong (answer - plenty), or he knew the risks and was being somewhat economical with the truth...

So his exact words were ‘should be’. Definitely not ‘will be’ or ‘is going to be’ or anything like that then.

Honestly you remainers are lightning quick to pick up on the daily mail fabricating stuff but when the grauniad or Indy do it it just passes straight by...

Ironic seeing as you are the one implying Brexit supporters are a bit thick

I don't think any one is implying brexit supporters are a bit thick.

It creates a level of expectation, by implying that it "should" when actually the likelihood was at best zero percent chance. You should give me a million pounds.

Similar to the "let's fund our NHS instead", they won't of course. If anything their choice of words makes them look like liars and manipulators more. It doesn't defend them at all.

You've been mugged off by a third rate politician

Farage and his mates made millions on a single day, that was all brexit was designed to do.

I voted remain but if you read the whole qoute I can see what he said is accurate and the reasons talks are not progressing are political.

We send the EU £350 million a week.
    Let's fund the NHS instead.

That's the wording, which is fully in keeping with modern advertising standards. If you took that at face value (or rather, you joined the dots over optimistically) you've also probably been taken in by your last mobile or broadband contract too.

Like most MSEers, I don't take anything written in big letters on a hoarding at face value, always dig deeper. I didn't take that advert at face value and I didn't vote remain.
