Halifax Reward payment being cut

I think you misunderstood my point.
It wasn't whether Barclays were good or bad. It was that you had gone from a stance of anyone but them, to asking about switching to them in less than 20 minutes.
Now I could partly understand if they offered a one off switch bonus like Halifax or FD for example as you could then leave immediately. But with Barclays you have to keep the account as it is an ongoing reward. Just seemed a bit strange that's all! And your quoted post makes it even stranger if you have had such a 'nightmare' with them.
I was asking about their reward and how it worked. Not that I was definitely planning on switching to them or asking about switching to them per se. I said if I were to, how does the reward work. I wouldn't really be any better off switching to them as I don't hold additional products of them to increase the reward.
I'll just see what's about in October/November time. Maybe B will bring back their £250 to switch.0 -
Oh never mind! Something must be getting lost in translation :wall:0

Is there an official MSE story about this, I didn’t read it in the MSE newsletter unless I missed it somehow?
There has been a pattern recently first Santander 123, then Nationwide with flex direct, I use to change it to a flex account for 12 months after the interest cut from 5%, then after 12 months change it back again but they won’t let you do that anymore.
Are there any decent accounts left? I’m really struggling to think of any.
I *think* that you can open a new Flex Direct account and get 5% after you have not been a Nationwide customer for a year, so you need to switch to a different bank rather than change Nationwide account. But that's my interpretation of what I've read, not tried and tested (yet!)0 -

Seems pretty clear. If you have previously held a FlexDirect account you will not be entitled to the introductory rate or offer under a new agreement and therefore you will receive the standard 1% gross p.a/ AER (variable) interest rate.

Another plus side Halifax has for me is that they're open until 3pm on a Saturday. I work most Saturday's. 1 in 4 i finish work at 12, 1 in 4 i get the weekend off & the other 2 i'm working all day. So if i need to pay a cheque in or withdraw a large sum i can switch money to Halifax and do it there on a Saturday.0 -

You can also use the app to pay in cheques under £500, so sometimes you may not need to even go to the bank, (sad as it is as a bank cashier)

Been away on my hols- came back to a huge pile of mail (mainly new t&cs) but yes, that letter from Halifax. Not pleased.
I now realise that switching my second reward a/c to Yorkshire, followed by NatWest followed by Barclays was a great decision! It was a cute little earner.....
The remaining Halifax Reward is my main a/c so I am loathe to switch that.....Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
