    Booooo!

First I get a letter saying my 3.5% HTB ISA rate is dropping to 2.25%, now I'm £12 a year worse off from their rewards too.

Mark Bl**dy Carney just needs to pull his finger out and set the base rate to 5% like it's supposed to be.

Mark Carney is useless, I agree.

I suspect that the Monetary Policy Committee (who actually set rates, not the governor - although he is a member of the committee) has a little more to think about than just how much interest you are earning.

I'm lucky that Santander has kept their Help to Buy ISA rate at 4% since I opened in April 2016.

Haha. Well I was but I transferred out my 2016/17 deposit to my Lifetime ISA in March. So I got an extra £920 bonus on top of the LISA bonus for 2017/18.

I hope they don't. The next best option is Barclays. But I'd rather go with someone else than put up with them!

Am i right in thinking that if I switched to Barclay's and added Blue, I'd get £3.50 per direct debit, so £7, but then £3 comes off after? So I'd only get £4?

    You understand correctly.

A Barclays mortgage gives you an extra fiver, there are other things (e.g. insurance, loans) but they don't tempt me.

Well yes exactly! Had products with them before and it was a nightmare. One of the counter clerks didn't know what maturity meant.

I think you misunderstood my point.

It wasn't whether Barclays were good or bad. It was that you had gone from a stance of anyone but them, to asking about switching to them in less than 20 minutes.

Now I could partly understand if they offered a one off switch bonus like Halifax or FD for example as you could then leave immediately. But with Barclays you have to keep the account as it is an ongoing reward. Just seemed a bit strange that's all! And your quoted post makes it even stranger if you have had such a 'nightmare' with them.
