Thank you @hugglemonster & Happy New Year to you too.
I realised this evening that I made a mistake on my budget spreadsheet and entered a credit card payment for this month when I have already cleared it in full. That means I’m over £300 better off than I thought and, even if we didn’t make a penny from the business/surveys etc, we can get through all of this month and most of next month without using the overdraft.
But, in even more good news, we’ve had a flurry of interest in the business. 1 small order confirmed for £21, someone else has said they will drop off payment (£72) tomorrow, and another that will pay tomorrow if I can get a certain item in stock for them. I’ve also sold 3 teddies for a whopping £1.50.
When we moved house, we lost our tea bags and MIL dropped some branded ones off for us. We’ve since gone back to our previous brand and are finding them really weak. I found a sack of 600 of the branded ones on @mazon yesterday with 15% off so I use a £10 survey voucher to order them. They should keep us going a good few months.2 -
Great find on the £300 that's fabulous. Well done you. Great news on the business front too. Go go go...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Oh dear, I’m really rubbish at updating my diary at the moment. I need to make more of an effort and make sure I’m still holding myself accountable.
All previously mentioned business orders were confirmed and have since been paid for and completed. We’ve had some more small orders and a big one (around 40 items) for a shop that stock our giftware. They’re not in a rush for delivery but I need to make an effort to get the order done so that I can invoice them.
We had a bit of drama at home this week. DH had to pick up DC1 late at night as she was unwell. Whilst he was out, we had an unwelcome visitor snooping round the house and peering in through the windows. I was terrified as I knew I’d left a door unlocked for DH. I think he saw the dog sleeping by the door and had second thoughts about trying it incase the dog started barking etc and woke the house. It’s all on CCTV and the police have been to pay him a visit, but it unnerved me at the time (I was watching him on the cameras as it happened). We’ve splashed out on a video doorbell on top of our existing cameras just to up the security. It’s cost around £70 but worth it for the peace of mind.
Despite the above, I don’t feel unsafe here. One of the farmers turned up when he heard what was going on, searched the land around our house, then sat with me until DH got home. Loads of others neighbours have also been in touch to introduce themselves, welcome us to the village, and have given us mobile numbers in case we ever need help.We had a few neighbours round for drinks and nibbles last night. I’m shattered today, but it was a great evening.4 -
Glad the neighbours rallied round. Sorry to hear about the would be intruder. Glad you were okay.
You have a lot going on. Glad the business is going well. Your diary is to update as you please. It sounds like things have been a mad rush since moving. Not surprising you don't have a lot of free head space yet.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Glad you're ok. Strange how living in the middle of nowhere makes you feel safer. When we lived in the inner city, if i heard a loud bang, I immediately thought it was a gun being fired, and was worried, more likely a car backfiring. Now if i hear a bang and I think it's a gun, I'm almost certainly correct, and am not in the slightest bit worried. The difference in perceived danger, is huge. We now rarely lock the doors, or the cars. Hope your stranger doesn't reappear. Take care, mumtoomany.xxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.3

That’s so true @mumtoomany although I am making sure the doors are locked after the other night.
I’m feeling really run down today. I’m tired, got too much going on, and just heard that a family member has passed away (expected but still not nice). Thankfully, my increased work hours have come to an end so, apart from needing to make up 7 hours deficit, I’m back to working a 4 day week.Tomorrow’s my non-working day so we’re going to visit some showrooms to consider a big business investment. This side of the business will be mainly DH’s domain once up and running. We did another 0lio collection yesterday. It was massive so we’ve shared loads and also managed to top up our freezer. That meant this weeks grocery shop was only £25. I have placed an order with a local butcher though as they had a flash sale including packs of sausages (all sorts of flavours) for 99p, lamb and duck for £3 etc. I spent £35 but it should last a while. I’ll meal plan once it’s delivered on Thursday.
I’ve randomly had a payment of £230 into the bank account that I don’t know where it’s come from. I’ve contacted the bank and they’ve said I’ll have to wait for the sender to put a trace on it before they can do anything. I’m tempted to set up a separate account so I can keep it to one side and make sure it doesn’t get spent.3 -

Thanks @savingholmes
Todays drama…my hair straighteners caught fire and exploded in my hand.Showroom visits done today and we’ve got lots to think about. It’s a big investment but should pay for itself in the first year then be in profit thereafter.2 -
Nice to receive money into your account, but weird that the bank cannot tell you where it has come from. Think I would separate it from your other money until the mystery sender is revealed. I had a hairdryer explode when I was using it, flames shot out of it and I threw it on the floor. Had had for a long time but shocked me when it happened. Good luck if you decide to go ahead with your business venture in the future.xx:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.002
