Aaarrgghh....stressed!!!!
After months and months of stressing about work, DH has had 3 job opportunities this week. To cut a long story short, he had to make a quick decision about which one to take and the one he has chosen is dependant on him passing an assessment, which should have been today. DH had a text last night to says it's been postponed. We don't know for how long. So DH has been stressing that the job will fall through now he's turned the others down.
But now he's decided it will all be fine after all and has started spending his wages before he's even started the job!!
Why do I bother???!!!!!3 -
@WelshKitty85 bless you! Why do they do it! My OH is just the same! I’m sending youpositive thoughts. I’m sure it will workout. Did they give any indication of when the assessment would be postponed until?3
-
@missymoo81 thank you. Yes, I often think there are similarities between our OHs when I read your diary! DH is down again today because he's still not heard when the assessment will be. Although, I actually think he's in a grump because he didn't eat breakfast or a proper lunch today.2

DH has accepted another job. It's closer to home but less money. He's not due to start for a couple of weeks so if/when the other one comes back to him he'll have to make a decision between them. Feeling less stressed now3

And within minutes of that phone call, he's had another to book his assessment with the first company! Why do they all come along at once??!!3

He's right to be hedging his bets though, OH and I moved a couple months ago after excellent job offers we took up in a more prosperous part of the country, and ended up both working with entirely different employers altogether off the back of suprise headhunting just after we had moved.
Keep going 🙂👌💪2 -
Hi @NewLeaf1986 yes I think it's a sensible approach. He just needs to think carefully about who he turns down (assuming he passes the assessment) as it may result in bridges being burned.2

DH did his assessment today. He thinks it went ok but just a case of waiting to hear back now. Hopefully this a turning point no matter the outcome of the assessment and which job he ends up in.2

Bridges shouldn't be burned, for most managers resourcing isn't personal. Your OH should just say something like - I'm sorry to say that I have accepted another opportunity, that was more convenient / suitable / better paid / more WFH (or any old reason that is a key difference between the roles or company, but that isn't rude). Then say, Thank you for your time and the opportunity you have offered me, (and you'll never find someone as good as me to fill the gap)
(NO DON'T SAY that but in brackets, but he can think it)I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine4 -
Hope hubbies job situation sorts itself out for the best, fingers crossed for the best outcome for him and your family.
