Well, that would explain why she glows in the dark lately then.

It would also explain why at a certain time of the year her eyes flash off and on.

Perhaps you have a window open during the day or you get used to the smell so it doesn't appear strong like it does when you've been in bed for hours then go in.

Well, one thing that I have noticed about this is that during the day, usually towards the evening time, I will start smelling it in the living room doorway as I walk in and outte door. But after awhile I won't smell it when I am sitting in the living room on my computer or whatever.

But then if I go into my bedroom to do something for 10, 15 minutes or so and then walk back through the liviing room door, then I will smell it again. That's how it does during the day.

But then at night it will b so much different, like so strong that it is reall difficult to be around and the whole hallways will smell like it, and sometimes the entire living room. And lately, just has gotten worse and worse, even starting to be able to smell it in my bedroom when I am trying to sleep.

Yesterday I had read someone's post on here saying something about that they had a similar problem as I do and that it had something to do with the plug arching or something like that. I can't even find their post now.

And I wasn't sure what they were even talking about so I thought I would try this.... They had asked me were their any plugs around where the smells are?

So I went into the kitchen and where the boiler is, I just unplugged the boiler itself, and plugged it back in. And then I realised there were lots of plugs behind the easy chair in the living room behind the living room door. The entrance of the doorway of the living room is where alot of plugs are. It is where the Housing Association had installed this sort of 'Lifeline' box with these antennae and stuff on them and plugs that plug into one of those white strips.

Post number 17 mentions the plug socket arching.

The white strips you mention are extension leads or gangway extension leads.

    Hi Useful Male

I really appreciate your comment, I think it is getting me on the road to perhaps figuring out what the problem is.

Is there an electrical socket close to where the smell is strongest?

I had a similar problem. The cause was a plug that was not quite plugged in and was arcing intermittently.

    Hi Useful Male

I really appreciate your comment, I think it is getting me on the road to perhaps figuring out what the problem is.

Could someone please tell me what arcing means though?

Also check your light fittings, ceiling lights and any other you have such as lamps or spotlights. I had a peculiar smell that I realised was only present in the evening and it turned out to be a plastic light fitting that had degraded and was letting off a horrible smell when it got hot. No sign of any arcing and the bulb type and wattage was suitable for the fitting, but something had happened because the plastic was a yellowed colour and stank. Replacing the fitting cost a few quid and solved the problem.

Energy saving lightbulbs can also make a stink when the electronics start to fail.
