So you've kept it ?
Or you've got a refund that, when the relevant Argos people realise what you've done they'll look to reverse :rotfl:0 -

A clear case of consumer responsibilities rather than consumer rights.
Talking generally, the concept of consumer responsibilities will come as a shock to many people (some of whom will need to look up responsibility in the first place!)0 -
For future reference - with many tents you can get a decent idea of what they're like by setting it up inside. You might need a couple of volunteers to hold guy ropes down, but my little 2 person tent actually stands up on it's own without any pegs in.
Also, grass rots if you leave it inside a tent. Very unpleasant.0 -

The more dishonest people there are like Zippy4emma, the more retailers are likely to tighten their discretionary returns policies, making life trickier for everyone else. I'll help people who've been genuinely let down by retailers but not those who try and defraud retailers.

I can possibly take a stab at what has happened here.
The OP wanted a certain make of tent. Realised that the xl they wanted was higher priced than the 500 they bought.
Thinking that they could save a bit of money the OP bought the 500 from Argos thinking that it would be acceptable to erect the tent in the garden, if it didn't suit, then return for a refund. This has now bitten them on the bum because, quite rightly, Argos will not refund on a used and soiled item.
Now the OP can't afford to purchase the xl without the refund, allegedly caused damage to the 500 to enable return due to said damage and alleging it was like that when purchased.
Of course, I could be way off the mark?0 -
Genuinely surprised the OP thinks they have some sort of right to refund here when it was their own idiocy that caused the problem0

If the item does indeed have a fault, then obviously they are entitled to a refund as the goods are not of "merchantable quality". But if they caused the damage that's fraud. Hard to prove though.Make £2018 in 2018 Challenge - Total to date £2,1080

OP will be the type of person back on here in a few weeks complaining about an item they've purchased that had been bought and returned by someone else.0
