Don't be. When I decided to start the couch to 5k running thing I thought our local council gym would be full of super fit types. It isn't - it just has ordinary people who want to improve their health and fitness. Back in April week one nearly killed me and it was only a minute running, a minute and a half walking. I haven't completed the entire program yet as I repeated some weeks or some runs until I was confident that I could do them with ease. This morning should have been a 28 minute run but I felt like I could carry on so I did. I ran for 45 minutes and covered 4.12 km. Not quite the 5k that I'm aiming for but close enough to see it in the distance and a very long way from the person that nearly collapsed after running for a minute.
Nelski I agree with Mehefin. That is all. I could say more but I risk offending, sigh.
Gers I'm glad to hear that mum of Gers is on the move again.
Speky I hope your date goes well, don't feel bad, she sounds like a moneysaver. That is not a bad thing.
Tru hugs.
It's the HT's last day of term today. We're going to see Mamma Mia 2 tonight after tea as an end of school year treat. He deserves it - I've had plenty of letters detailing his good behaviour and effort. Incidentally he's just reached that age where they think a good squirt of Lynx bodyspray is a substitute for washing :rotfl:
Take care all of you0 -
Sorry I have not posted for a long time. I put my house on the market to move nearer to shops, buses etc. but the breast cancer that I had 13 years ago is back and I don't feel I can cope with the additional stress of a move. At the moment I am on medication to attempt to shrink the tumour and if that works will need a full mastectomy rather than just another lumpectomy. Having scans to check on any potential spread. Lucky that I have super friends and neighbours - just wish one of them had a magic wand! Coping with cucumber and courgette city, tomatoes not so good and runner beans do not seem to be setting.0

((HUGS)) Poppy. What rotten news to be given. I agree, it's not the best time to be considering moving house. Your strength will be needed for other things. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Nannywidow - no matter what she's my mum and I can't bear the thought of her in the hands of strange carers. My early working years was a nurse so I'd cope with 'fluids' and meds. She's been fortunate in not developing dementia or Alzheimer's which would make it more difficult. And I've spent an awful lot of years not wanting to live with her as one of us would be in the big house!
Poppy - so sorry to hear your news. X
Cranky - such determination! That's brilliant to read.
Elona - I don't fare well on low cal stuff, it never fills me up. Portion control and will power and low carbs is my weary road. :rotfl:
Well, in light of DM's foray back into the land of getting better I jumped on a bus and went into the city. I started at the top of the city centre and worked my way downhill to the bottom. M&S got some of my dosh, new work trousers, two jumpers and a Tshirt. Next was L akeland for a mooch around. Then I got two savings books updated, sat and had a free coffee and biscuit in the V irgin Money lounge. Bus back. Now I feel better after being in the real world.0 -

Dumpling good on ya to see the GP's words as "tough love" and to resolve to do something. Well done on taking that stance, and good luck.
I too need to shift a couple of stone - Prednisolone plus abortive tries with Mirtrazine (sp?) and Gabapentin have seen to that. :(Trouble is - I eat a tiny breakfast (if I have one at all), rarely eat lunch, eat a very small dinner, don't snack at all, and still I can't shift it.
Nels sorry hun, but honestly your mum really does take the [STRIKE]biscuit[/STRIKE] banana at times. Just do what you were going to anyway; "thank you" is a sadly neglected form of compensation, and I'm betting the young couple will be really pleased. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Late signing in today.....((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Sorry to hear so much is going on, for those of you who are suffering have an extra (((hug))).
Gers pleased you Mum seems to have mentally turned the corner.
I too have a problem with my weight, I think its that causing my breathlessness.......its one of those things that goes round and round...I am going to try and cut down on the amount I eat for a start see how I get on. It is a mental thing. I think I am hungry and go to the biscuit tin.......I allow myself two biscuits for supper and thats it. Potato is another thing I find difficult. Maybe we need to get smaller plates, so I do not put so much on them........unless we go out I am no longer having cake or scones with our afternoon tea........when we go to our friends we tend not to eat supper but have a snack instead.
My back is not quite so painful, although it was a bit iffy this morning when I got out of the car, having driven my neighbour to the hospital to get the cast off her foot. Just another two appointments and I hope she will be finished.
Fish and oven chips with HG beans for supper, I will cut down on the chips.....we are still picking rasps, will have some for dessert, but no cornish ice cream with them.0 -
Poppy, I am sorry to read your news. My friend had a double mastectomy, chemo, everything and she is fully recovered now though it was a long slog for her. I hope that it will be similar for you but perhaps not such a long slog for you. It is scary though.
Im back after a trip to the other side of the city to the only place where I could rely on getting yarn of the correct colour for Yoda - and why I have been so exercised about getting the right colour us a mystery because Yoda is not real, he could be any colour really. Still, I have it now, naturally plus a big bagful of other colours for other things. I thought if I went at lunchtime I'd miss the schools letting out but they mostly broke up at lunchtime and the city was full of teenagers in clumps, yattering at the top of their voices.!!!314;
I am quite tired now. But I'm recovered from poorly shoulder and jaw so that's positive.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0
