Good morning everyone,
Judi - In answer to yesterdays question of if it's a second date....well I suppose it's our first proper 'lets go out for a meal for 2' date, but it'll be the third time I've seen her outside of work.
So, yes. Tonight's date night. We're going to a pizza place which she recomended and although it doesn't really sit right with me, she has vouchers which she needs to use. I feel like I should be buying dinner to make her feel special. Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to it.
Tomorrow I have a friends wedding tomorrow which will be brilliant fun, they mostly are. Still need to sort a gift tomorrow morning though. Typical man, leave it to the last minute.
Dumpling - There are some really lovely and healthy recipes out there, which if you enjoy cooking, can be easy and painless to make. As a gym lover myself, I'd always recommend some sort of exercise. There's lots of free things you can do at home.
Nelski - Very thoughtful of you. Are you sending gift over anyway?0 -
Gers maybe your DM took that as a hint?! Glad she's up and about again anyway
Tru thank you - our Dyson is almost dead so am looking for recommendations for a pet-capable vac2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Morning all,
Dumpling I've had the weight thing all my life. I'm fine when Grump is working away and the kids aren't so demanding, I can easily lose a few pounds but as it stands the kids are demanding Grump is at home and I'm in my larger sized pants again. I can't look after myself, Grump, 3 adult kids, 2 Grandchildren and 2 dogs without something giving and it's always me.
I've tried meal replacement meals but its torture when your preparing food for everyone else. If I complain I get "oh Moms off on one again" or I offend someone.
Nelski What a mean thing to do. Send the gift anyway.
Speky hope tonight goes well. Enjoy yourself.
Nothing planned for me today though I expect to see Prodigal at some point.
Onwards and forwards,
Have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Speky, good luck on the date, don't worry about not treating her, most girls now wouldn't expect it. DD and S-i-L are going to a wedding in Glasgow tomorrow, it would be funny if it was the same one.
Dumpling, sending positive thoughts for the weight loss, like many here I know how difficult it can be. I have to resist negative thinking eg it's genetic (mum and her 3 sisters were or are all fat) and having an underactive thyroid makes it difficult to lose weight. These are true but I can do it if I try, so can you.
DH is off to the dr in a minute to ask about the lump in his neck. Fingers crossed it's innocuous. Otherwise it's very boring here.0 -
Morning all Gosh what a busy lot you have been today 27 posts and only just turned 10am!
If I may add my 2pennorth Nelski, Sod the old bat, and take whatever you feel is right in person to that lovely young couple. They will definitely appreciate the gesture and are more likely to keep an eye out in future too.
Lainey This years hay is going at £4/bale currently. The local ag merchant is selling it at £5. Luckily had enough room to buy in 50 so that will last a while. Grass is scarce and seer here too. Haven't seen fields so brown since 1976.
Sounds like your farrier is on a par with mine. Full removes are £60 but our guy is a pain to get to do a full set. He's known locally as Stevie 2 shoes ! lol. He is brilliant when you can get him interested though. Only farrier in the area with all the letters behind his name. Was a national champ in competitive shoeing and represented the country but can be hard work on occasions. However is a useful man to know and it was he who put us in touch with the hay supplier. Suppose they go everywhere and see everything. Always worth asking them when you need something out of the ordinary in my experience.
Right time to buzz off
Hugs and spoons to those in need

You can do it, dumpling, and healthy eating will do the whole family favours...they can have larger helpings.
I always put on weight when I visit the UK....which is where I come tomorrow for a week....not really worked out why.
I wish strength to all you coping with your own and family illnesses.0 -
Oops forgot to say that Mrs M had us up at 2am as she could smell smoke. Paranoid at the moment as everything is like tinder. A quick trip to the field to check girls and then back to bed not to sleep a wink afterwards!
We have a neighbour ( body beautiful) who likes to have fires in his back garden.. pain in the arris in this weather!

Morning all
I'm having a break from my Friday tidy, whilst keeping an ear open for our roofing sheet delivery. The time slot is 9am to 5pm, so I expect it will turn up about 4.45 pm :rotfl:. Mr Fix It is supposed to be tidying up his shed but all I can hear is banging and clattering. I suspect he is making more mess.
Dumpling Mr Fix It had a problem with his weight and went on a calorie controlled diet, he lost 4st. Fast forward to his cancer diagnosis and they advised him to lose more weight in case surgery was an option ( it wasn't ) however he lost another 3st but this time we swapped our large dinner plates to smaller ones and I'm in charge of portion control. He still eats the things he loves but in smaller portions. Could you get your family involved too, perhaps one of them could portion control for you ? It will be hard for you but you are a very strong person and always there for your family, now perhaps it's time for them to help you. I'm sure they wouldn't want to live in a world without you as you are the glue that holds them together. Many hugs
Nelski sorry I seem to have passed the baton on to you. Personally I would still send the flowers, but then I'm fast becoming a stroppy mare
. I'm fed up of being walked over and I have found my inner "Mum", she wouldn't put up with it so why should I.
Gers what a lovely daughter you are to think of giving up your home to look after your Mum. I did think of us living with Dad, but came to the conclusion that I'd end up in clink.
Speky good luck tonight, but I don't suppose you'll need it.
AOD I hope you are on the mend
Tru and those with toxic families, please know there are lots of us on here who understand how you feel. Extra hugs for you today
Apologies if I have missed anyone.
Better get on and at least look like I'm busy :rotfl::rotfl:.
Take care all.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Gers and dumpling
I have been trying to get my head straight and finally lost a stone - quite a few more to go.
I find having low cal yoghurts and fruit to snack on or low cals mugs of soup helped as did freezing grapes to munch on when ice cold and solid. I am now eating so little bread that a small loaf goes green!!!
Just about to go to York so hugs to all.0
