OS Thursday 1 nov 2007

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 1st November 2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning Redruby, hope you get back to the land of nod

    Morning everyone to follow

I have to admit that even though I have been reeeeeealy quiet this past month or two on Old Style, when the site was down I missed it an awful lot more than I ever imagined I would. So, I think I will be a bit more sociable and post a wee bit more regularly now. I hope you don't mind a generous helping of pointless drivel every now and again...

There still isn't very much to report here in SnowyOwl Land - it's very much a case of going to wo*k, then going home, and repeat.

HariboJunkie, I loved your pictures from yesterday. Our favourite Ninny was looking very youthful in hers I must say.

Joannasmum, hope your back pain is easing up.

Mioliere, sorry to hear your sad news.

I hope everyone else is well...have a big hug each.(((())))

    Hello everyone,

Ruby dear it's still 2007 :D Time to come off the coffee.

Snowy You missed the first picture of me. I had a very dark suntan. ;) You talk as much drivel as Haribo. :p So you'll be in good company.

PenPen Isn't it taking the friendship a bit far having a picture of Mouse on your head. :D I must cross Yorkshire of my *to visit* places.

Pink Where are you?? I hope you've gotten over your wog (this means illness for those who need a translation ) :D If not, get well soon. xxxx

I was suppose to go out into the yard this morning but ended up going out for the morning. It's now too hot :D so I'll have to wait until it cools down. Think I'll go and make a cuppa. Will pop back later. Byeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Morning Everyone

Nice to see you again Snowy, I think I am a drivel expert too!

Is it cooling down a little now AussieLass? Having a nice refreshing drink in the shade?

RedRuby luckily I can drink coffee by the gallon and it does not touch me. Hope you got back to sleep.

Its All Saints Day today and so we have a Bank Holiday. We have a new bed coming tomorrow, the old one was one with slats on a metal frame, which had started squeeking terrible everytime we moved/turned over. I am sure our neighbours were thinking we were far too energentic for our age! MRI scan on my knee on Monday. Ate our last night, I think the Sangria was stronger than normal as very dry this morning.

    ((hugs)) all round
    Take care

    Hello everyone,

Just a quickie to let you know what the scales said this morning as it's weigh day. Well after nearly passing out with the strain the scales said 16st 9lb. So at least it's still coming off. It's a long haul though.

Hope you are all well and happy xxxxxxx

Halloween party was great, only thing that upset me was some nasty little sh*t stole my pumpkin from the front door and smashed it to pieces down the road leaving a trail of mess that im going to have to clean up, it upset my dd and her friends. other than that they had a fab time, we played dress the mummy where you had to cover someone head to toe in loo roll... it was so funny... dlb.. did you get the coffin out ? thanks for the ideas you gave me, the torches n the garden was good, i hid some prizes on the trampoline at the end of the garden and they had to walk down to it in the dark !!!
have a messy house to tidy when i get back from work this morning, also some washing to do.
well im in need of another coffee so catch you all later

PINCH PUNCH 1st OF THE MONTH and all that stuff !!!!

Good morning REDRUBY, SNOWY, HARIBO, DONNY-GAL and AUSSIELASS.

HARIBO - the pics were brilliant. I'm going to have a another look in a minute!

Well - we had a bit of a shock/surprise last night to be told that MIL's funeral is this morning - in Cyprus, so not much chance of being able to attend. My DH was hoping for a bit more notice as you can imagine; he wanted to get there the day before the funeral then stay for a week after, to be with his dad. So, half the family won't be there - the only ones who will be attending are my SIL - who has been there since the day after MIL was taken ill, and one BIL, who went over there to take over FIL's care so that SIL could go home. DH and other family members are a bit stunned but, of course, they can't make any fuss because it's such a sensitive time. All I have been able to say to DH is that he'll probably be more of a comfort and help to his dad if he goes out after the funeral and stays with him for a week or so, and I also suggested we make a good donation to the British Legion Poppy Appeal in his mum's name - she was in the Wrens years ago. The family had always thought that their parents would want to be laid to rest back in the UK so it has all come as a bit of a shock. DH doesn't quite know what to think, as you can imagine, and neither can the other relatives. Well, enough about that - I don't know what else to say about it, really!

All your continued good wishes have been wonderful to read. Once again, thank you.

DH's work has not been going too well this week, either. Two of the jobs he had lined up have been postponed and - as he's self-employed, he's had to reorganise other jobs, which has not been easy because he has obviously been waiting for the funeral details and checking the availability of flights to Cyprus. His most psychic auntie told him that things have been difficult because all the planets are in line, which causes confusion! Apparently, they are nearly out of line now, so we are hoping for an upturn!

Dinner tonight will be stew in the SC; we had some lovely salmon yesterday (Scottish - yes TWINK and KYLE, as well as the beef, your salmon is great, too!). I need to put the BM on in a minute and I have a pile of ironing (not too big, luckily) and a load for the WM. I'll soon have to start drying it all on the airer now that the weather is changing and it's getting darker earlier.

I didn't read all yesterday's thread so have not caught up with everyone's news. I'll go and have a look in a minute. I hope everyone is well but (((Hugs))) to those who need them.

    Will call in later.

Just edited to say well done, AMIE, on a successful party - apart from the pumpkin incident.

FROGGA - fantastic weight loss. Well done!!

DLB - I only had one trick-or-treat visit last night; three sweet little witches (not in the least bit scary!) accompanied by all their parents.

I suppose now that's over, we'll have the three-month-long firework night to put up with!

    Good Morning Sunshine!

    Yep, redruby still 2007!!!

    Frogga :T :T

Ok, so blokey. Well he was online at the same time as me for the second time yesterday, so I thought s*d it, I'm sending a message and if he doesn't reply, I know where I stand. He replied within a minute> (Good sign:confused:) I kept things very casual. I knew he'd had a busy Tuesday so just asked how it went. And we had a very chilled - if brief - conversation about the various injuries he'd picked up. I ended the conversation as I had to get somewhere. Just said I'd best be off to get ready and told him not to injure himself anymore. No further date's been set, but at least contact has been made right??? So folks, where do I go from here?

Now, the purpose of having to get somewhere - I did a fire walk for charity last night!! I walked right across burning embers burning at 6000 degrees. It didn't hurt at all. I just did it. We had some major training before hand to get us ready and a lot of it can be used in general life, so will try and put it into practice. My feet are lovely and soft now unbelievably! And I raised £130 for charity:T

Job for today is to fill the car with petrol using 5p off a litre coupon with Mr T

    Hope everyone's ok

    Morning everyone,

frogga, well done on the weight loss.
scuzz, play it cool and see how things pan out.
redruby, I hope you managed to get back to sleep.
snowy, it’s good to see you posting again. :j
    Aussie, I’m here! :hello:
mioliere, I’m thinking of you and your dh, it must be a shock for him not to be able to attend the funeral.
Penny Pincher, I’m glad to hear that the chooks are settling in well. I’m looking forward to seeing the pics of them.
    Bridget, welcome!
Haribo, Well what can I say! You are an absolute minx and you always have been! Please try not to disrupt today’s thread too much! ;) I love you really. :kisses3:

I haven’t posted much this week because I haven’t been feeling too well. I’ve been off work for five days as I have a chest infection and thanks to the coughing I managed to pull a muscle in my chest as well. I think the antibiotics and painkillers are beginning to kick in at last and hopefully I’ll be back to work tonight. I did intend to go back to work yesterday, but when I phoned the office to get my calls, they said that I still sounded quite bad and suggested I take another 24 hours to get myself totally better. As you can imagine, I was heartbroken! :j :j

Unfortunately it’s half term here so me being ill has meant that the kids haven’t had much of a half term holiday. We’ve done a bit of baking and some things together at home, but nothing very exciting. However last night we had a ‘party’ tea and then took the little one into Belfast for a fireworks display while the other two went to teen parties. The fireworks were fabulous and the look on his little face was priceless.

The reason why I’m able to post so early this morning is I had to get up to see DD off on her first holiday abroad without us. She’s going with a couple of girlfriends to Marbella for a few days. I’m finding it hard to let go, but I know I must. It’s hard not to fuss though, and I think I was driving her nuts with all my “have you got this and have you remembered that”. I hope she has a great time, but I can’t wait to see her home safe and sound on Tuesday.

Anyway, my plans for the rest of the day….

I need to put the breadmaker on. The washing machine is finished so I need to hang that out. I have puff pastry and sausage meat defrosting so that I can make some sausage rolls for lunch, but I still need to decide what to do for tea….I’m trying to run the freezer down so evening meals are a bit of pot luck at the moment. I’ll have a quick tidy round later and then hopefully think of something to entertain the boys this afternoon.

I hope you all have a good day.

    Pink
