So I left Orbit after only a few months due to the 29.8% increase (variable tariff).
This is to report my leaving experience. My switch was planned for 29 September, which took place on the 29th.
A bit naughtily they took the monthly advanced payment DD money on the 28 September even though I was well in credit.
Without my intervention, I was fully refunded the entire A/c balance on 15 October.
  • I'm guessing you could had still cancelled the switch on the 28th? Until the switch is complete they would keep your DD active incase it's cancelled in the cooling off period. Just bad timing that the switch completion date is a day after when your DD is taken out.

Have to admit though just over 2 weeks to refund your entire balance automatically isn't that bad going if you compare to other suppliers like Utility Point who took months before.

I typed in a refferal code giving me a £50 credit then got a quote. The tariff MSE Energy Club came up with was not displayed, only a much more expensive one (over £20pm more). So then I started again without the code and, as if by magic, the cheaper tariff showed up.
So avoid codes, they will cost you.

I switched to Orbit about a month or so ago to their variable tariff which is significantly cheaper for me than anything else. It all went smooth, they requested readings which I provided, no issue to report so far.
