  • So one month into my contract, direct debits taken as advised, have submitted my reading. Very happy with the process, it has been so easy I have not had to contact customer services at all.

Same here. Monthly increase of about £20 for me seems excessive.
Already started my transfer to Igloo Energy - a new company for me.
  • Although you agree to a contract date for your direct debit, Orbit Energy will take money from your account whenever it's not in credit.
My direct debit is on the 15th, but they took money out on the 29th, leaving me with £2.00 to buy 2 weeks of groceries.
I can't pay my mobile now either, which I rely on as I am disabled... Also, some of my meds have to be taken with food or they upset my stomach.

Refer to the direct debit guarantee that covers all direct debit transactions, a copy of which Orbit would have already provided you with.

But if you have lost it...

Given Orbit are putting up their prices - if you apply to switch to another firm, do Orbit have to honour their old pricing until the switch goes through?

I know this is the case if you are coming to the end of a fixed rate tariff - but not sure in the case of a variable tariff...
