Not sure what it was this time last year but my total 1st Jan was £3k, I had £495 left of that in July, then it got topped up (cars ) and it was £1490 (incl the previous £495) and now that's £893

So I've cleared £2.5k and then another £500 approx

In Jan 07 I owed £4222, I now owe £2439 and have paid off Next completely. I've paid off £1783 in 10 months which is not really that much! I must admit I haven't really been trying as hard as I could. The best thing I did was get all interest frozen (except Egg and DP who refused) and set up standing orders for a set amount on the first of each month. Now I can't forget so no more late payment fees!

I've just been made redundant but as soon as I get another job I'm really going to try and clear it all before our wedding in July 08.

I only really started paying back debts in Jan this year, when I had approx £12000, although I didn't really get a grip properly, add everything up and sort out regular payments until around July/August time - sort of progressive brightening of the lightbulb I suppose! Anyway, I've paid off just over £2000 so far this year - my current total is £9952 and I hope to be down to £9700 by the end of the year. The biggest thing I would say I've done is just facing up to it and making it a priority. Hoping to clear the rest over the next two years so there's some serious work to be done!

  • In May 06 which was my glaring LBM I owed £21600.00:eek:

As of 1st Nov I owe £12559.34 so have reduced it by 9k in 18 months. Done this by cutting back, switching to low life of balance cards and snowballing.

Hope to be shot of it by Dec 2008.

Dread to think what mess I would be in had i not found this site.

Finish paying for the car in december .....2 more payments
That will give me an extra £180 to work at the mortgage
I have overpaid that by about £3000 this year ..since March...Down to a tad over £25,000 owing on that ..
About £11,000 on credit cards ....soon to be going up to £12,500....Stoozing this..... so not really a debt...Wish I could get more ...
I would have done better but had a super holiday in Malaysia for 3 weeks ....No holiday plannned for next year .
I'm hopping to really knock a chunk off the mortgage over the next 12 months ...And upgrade a bathroom ...It would be nice if interest rates dropped over the next 12 months .
    well done everyone
