G24 never cancel. But we never pay them. No appeal will 'work' with a scammer.

But their PCNs are cancelled all the time by Store Managers. All you need to do is pop in with it to the shops and get a sympathetic manager who wants to keep your business, to make the one quick phone call or email to cancel it on the spot.

Come back & tell us when the Store Manager has sorted it. Dress smartly, be polite but don't take no for an answer.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

No disrespect to you Neil but who on earth dreams
    all this up

On the same link, businesses can email
    Contact by email
    Businesses: email trading.standards@essex.gov.uk

"If you're unable to contact us by telephone or email you can send a letter. However, please note that consumer enquires cannot be received at this postal address and will not be redirected to The Citizens Advice Consumer Service. "

    (trading standards address given)

What a pointless statement .... what do they do with letters
    then, bin them ???

01-02-03 can be free depending on a mobile package
but with 03. it often means 0300 not 0345

As said before, to expect everyone to have an internet
    connection/computer is far fetched

This seems to be perfect example to advise your MP.
Consumers being scammed must be scammed again
    to a consumer helpline

    That's how DWP were exposed

    No disrespect to you either

I don't necessarily agree with the system. To be honest it's not something that I have thought about in depth

But - at the moment that is the system and that is the way to report to Trading Standards. My concern is that incorrect information on here about how to contact TS will result in reports going astray. Say the OP lived in Essex - his written report would have gone nowhere, which helps, absolutely, no-one - except the person being reported on

FWIW. I completely agree with you about those with no internet or computer. Where I am you can only apply to go on the housing list online. There are other examples. Awful...

But, I think the worth of forums like these lies with giving correct information. We are quick enough to point out where others get it wrong - say the wrong thing. I believe we, ourselves, should be as accurate as we can

OK, well I understand and I also understand that some
of the people who run councils are complete idiots

As you know on here, I don't mince my words and that
is simply because I hate the scammers.
So, in the best interests of those who are not clued up,
I will direct them to the Trading Standards council site but
I must tell them that they could be subject to expensive
    phone charges

I know you work for the CAB but, I simply could not suggest
they contact your organisation as I believe there is a complete
lack of knowledge and that is dangerous as well for
    the consumer

    kind regards

    Cool.

To be clear I volunteer (not work) for the CAB and, as Ian 011 said, that is a different entity from the Consumer Line.

We all have our own views about organisations, forums, football and everything else - and that is completely right. Often formed by our own experience. Boring if we thought the same. I tend not to go too overboard (not my style) but, in a moment of plain speaking (!), I would say I have seen some brilliant advice on MSE - equally, I have seen some dreadful and dangerous stuff, too. Sometimes (present company excepted) from folks who have slagged off CAB.

Anyway it would be great if everyone here could give the correct current (however flawed) way to report to TS.

    Thanks Beamerguy.

I see what you are saying NeilCr, and will add it to post #5 of the NEWBIES thread as an option for complaints, and will try to remember to link people to your post about it.

But it really irks me that everything defaults to a 'helpline' in which I have no faith at all. :(

And it irks me that you and the other CAB advisers who post here (you are not the only one, but it's not me) are about the only CAB advisers who know the right thing to say re PPCs.

We have seen some shockers from the CAB, so many that we can't support anyone going there because they (most likely) won't find you sitting there, or the other MS posters!

I'd like to volunteer for the CAB one day, do they take anyone with some financial or similar knowledge?

Maybe a new thread about this will be in order that others
can refer to quickly to which your input would be good.
This would mean we do not fill up threads where the OP is
    looking for help.

We are stiill building blocks on here.
Currently we are seeing so much rubbish from PPC's stupid
debt collectors and their legals with threats that could lead a
    frail person to top themselves

    What does everyone think

    Thanks C-M.

I have very little experience of the consumer help line so have no idea how good it is. We know it's there and, on occasions, direct clients to it. I just want the right information to be given on reporting to TS - I appreciate you doing that. I hope other posters can do the same.

I've said it before and I'll say it again we rarely get (in my branch anyway) people with parking tickets. Given that we are volunteers and, usually, only in once or twice a week we aren't going to build up much knowledge and rely on the information systems we use. We are much more likely to be up to date with the regular subjects we are asked about - debt, housing, employment, relationships, etc etc.

And we don't have long with clients and do not have the time or resources (we are subject to cuts, too, right now) to go into the depth that you can. Look at the times we are posting now. This is a specialist subject for you guys.

I am sure you'd be fine. To be a good adviser you need to be non judgemental, a good listener, able to assimilate and give information quickly and accurately and pretty laid back. People skills are important but, I'd imagine someone with your knowledge would be snapped up.

My office could certainly do with it!

Just read Beamerguy's latest post. Completely agree. I am conscious of going off topic - it was the TS advice that got me going. Maybe a TS thread on it's own?

OK, if members have no objection to this. I will set it up tomorrow.

I live over 25 miles away and to boot have just been given a 3 month ban for totting up (35 in a 30 but was lenient as 3 points were due off 6 days after caught), so not really worth going in person?

I have however just sent B&M the below so hopefully this may work.

    Hi.

I am writing to let you know my disappointment/frustration of being issued a parking charge notice at your Cheetham Hill Branch car park.

I regularly use B&M and popped into the car park at around 11pm on the 19th of June to eat a McDonalds I'd just purchased from across the road.

I was worn out after a day of work and decided to go to your car park (familiar with it due to shopping at your store there) as it was quiet and wanted to have a 15 minute peaceful break away from the noise at McDonalds.

I politely request a full cancellation of the charge received and will lead me to continue shopping at your stores.

The contractual parking charge notice number: xxxx

Kind regards and look forward to hearing from you shortly.

    xxxxx
    ===

I see also on the back of the notice that the issuer is IPC accredited.

There is a lot of information on that Newbies thread so a bit lost.

I will go back to it tomorrow but would appreciate any advice with regards to the IPC accreditation.

    Thank you all.

I wouldnt worry about the IPC or IAS at all

we tell people to IGNORE them, and IGNORE any debt collectors too

with G24 and any other IPC operator its one initial appeal to the PPC involved (in your case G24) , then its ignore anything except an LBC or an MCOL in the post (the in between stuff is irrelevant)

and a landowner cancellation following a written complaint is ALWAYS the best option for anyone with a pcn (go to the source , the organ grinder , not the monkey)
