Hi is there anyway to remove an inaccurate default on my credit file?
It’s just appeared from nowhere and apparently it was in 2013
Thanks

What makes you think it's inaccurate?0

Much more information is needed.
Incorrect how? Is it an account you don't recognise / someone has used your identity to open an account and then didn't pay back the debt?
Is it an account you recognise but you are disputing the data?
Is there a reason you've waited 5 years to do anything about it?

It’s an account I don’t recognise in a variation of my name at a date I wasn’t resident at my address.
It’s appaeared on credit file as opened closed and defaulted on the 11th June but the account was opened in 2013. The lender is Lowell’s amount 1960 -
Contact Lowell to dispute it
But make it clear you are NOT acknowledging the debt0 -
Is that the only way?
Is there any format I can follow?0 -
You could use the Prove-It letter format and amend as neccessary:

Thanks Garry will do,0

Hi following on from my prove it letter I am yet to receive any kind of correspondence,
Could anyone advise my next step?
Thank you0 -
How did you send it?0

You really need to find out what the debt is for and what address it was taken out at. If it was taken out when you weren't at that address, then it could be a debt from a former address and its only appearing now as they've traced you and found you.
As its a variation of your name, if it was taken out at an address you never lived at then looks like they've mistraced and got the wrong BBOA.
Since you have said
then you can't complain they haven't responded yet! Maybe they've decided its not you or maybe they are getting evidence of liability before continuing. Please do not make any further contact about the above accounts unless you can provide evidence of my liability for the debt.0
