Incorrect Default

Oh thought they had to contact you when registering the debt.0
-
Also,is it true that these companies must register a default within 6 months? I know nothing of these defaults certainly not when they were issued is there anyway I can find out? I use Clear score as a CRA0
-
Nope - you'll find out when the demands start coming through0
-
Ok. Lowell’s have gone as so far to say they won’t be pursuing the debt but also wont remove the default. What do you recommend as next course of action0
-
If you are 100% certain that the debt is not yours, I would make a written complaint, by post, advising them that the debt is not yours, that they have failed to provide any evidence of the debt despite you having requested the evidence, and that having the debt marked as defaulted with the CRAs is therefore incorrect.
If they don't uphold the complaint then you can escalate to the ICO and FOS after eight weeks.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.
I love my job

If they won't pursue it they will write it off and zero balance it, but the default will remain.
They will only remove the default if it is proved to be not yours0 -
Yes indeed it already has a zero balance and they weren’t actively pursuing it. My issue is I am now in a situation whereby my credit score has taken a beating for no good reason.0
-
No you’re not
You’re credit score isn’t real so ignore it0 -
Thanks Gary, i fully understand what you have said previously re credit scoring, but aside from the score surely a default would negatively impact my ability to obtain credit.0
-
Yes it would0
