Setanta Sports for £5 a month

Quite common that - some ISP's do a similar thing.0

Are you allowed to cancel anything like Sky, mobile phone, etc by email?
Didn't realise this earlier but apparently the Setanta deal is for Freeview customers as well as Sky.
I've never needed to cancel anything else via email as most do it via phone, with setanta it was just trying to make contact with a joke of a company who didn't want to cancel, they don't cancel on a weekend as there cancellation department is shut (and thats when most people are off work) but they do take subscriptions.
christ I used to think virgin was bad untill I ran into seSCAMa, virgin are angels now
at least sky have the next hattan fight, if it was setanta I would just do with radio. thats what I do with football now, either radio/internet streams and most times setanta are showing game you get a good stream (saves money & nightmare of having to cancel)
ONCE BITTEN, TWICE SHY. setanta is only good on cable as you don't pay and don't need to cancel.0 -
I never understood why people pay for freeview myself

It's disgusting that a platform intended to be free for all, and called as such, is populated with pay channels, shopping channels, stupid premium rate phone-in quizes and Sky are now planning to get rid of Sky sports and replace that with a pay channel.
Suppose the only saving grace about freeview at the moment are Virgin 1 and Dave, although dave repeats things all day long.0 -
I'd watch out cancelling anything by cancelling direct debit only. Dunno about Setanta, but Sky's policy is to then bill you "to avoid interruption to your viewing", charge £4 per bill for the pleasure, then chase you for the "debt"
setanta is the only direct debit I've needed to cancel and it was my only option. got hattan fight @£15 with 2 month free and told to cancel 30 days before end of free offer, which I did via phone after 20 odd minutes but setanta just went ahead and took money from bank anyway.
so I cancelled direct debit and took another month, wasn't going to bother wasting anymore money trying to contact them/get a refund on a 0870 number. they then contacted me and said I couldn't cancel as I was in a contract grrrrrrr (tv ad said NO CONTRACT) I wasn't having that, luckily I'd not paid via credit card as that can go on for 6 month & just ignored nasty letters & instructions to setup direct debit again and after a few month they stop.
you sign up with this company, you sign up with the devil AVOID0 -
I never understood why people pay for freeview myself

I would avoid setanta on freeview from what I seen, as some games start at 11/12am. and when freeview owners sign up they think there getting all 9 channels only to get 1 (thats not on all day)
http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?t=276942&highlight=setanta+halfMine's on now as well. Setanta are the biggest bunch of b*st*rds I've ever had the misfortune to deal with. The lass on customer services I spoke to reckons 'due to copyright Setanta can only boradcast on Freeview between 12 noon and 3am and that I would have been told that when I signed up. Was I sh*te. So I pay the same as someone on Sky who gets 9 channels yet I only get half of one channel. B*STARDS!!!!
and yes seSCAMa are loved on the football forums also NOT,

you only got to search google for canceling setanta or setanta problems to find out.0 -
anewman is right about one thing - Dave is great! I don't mind it being repeats to be honest as there are some great reruns on there.
The way I've decided to look at the cancellation issue is like this: If its a good enough service, I won't cancel it. I'll keep it. I've had enough problems with cancelling other services in the past (BT being the worst by far thus far), so hopefully I won't even need to contemplate cancelling Setanta. If I'm saving money and I'm happy with the service, that's good enough for me.0 -
a couple of things people may not be aware of in regards to setanta sports.
the old firm game special offer is *still on* (at £5/mo for first three months). setanta were sending out letters to customers offering them the special offer, and due to the postal strike they still have to honour that offer - but they wont tell you about it *unless* you mension that you got a letter through the post.
even if you did not recieve a letter, the agent at the other end of the sales dept has no way to check - so if you claim to have recieved the letter you will get the service for £5/mo for the first three months. I do have to let you guys be aware there is a hidden connection charge of £10, however if you wont budge with regards to the connection fee they will waive this (even if you are not applying for the special offer).
could save a good bit of money on setanta sports, enjoy.
beware however - these callcentres used are extremely insecure with regards to customers details and have no regard for customer confidentiality what so ever - even to the extent of writing down card details on pieces of paper to be processed later by the centre and agents with mobile phones being used within the centre where card details are being processed.
- one !!!!ed off callcentre (setanta) employee.0 -
Had my first real opportunity to watch some sports this evening. Pretty impressive with the quality so far. I didn't have a great idea of what to expect. So far, so good. Can't wait for the boxing!0

Morning guys,
This one ends tonight!0 -
A few friends and family of mine have had it before. From what they say, the situation with cancellations etc is better than it was.
This may have been due to them having cleared the backlog after this summer of customer discontent.
With the Calzaghe fight due on Saturday and this new offer, they may be attempting to grab a large number of new subscribers ala Ricky Hatton situation...then have to again deal with a lot of them cancelling simultaneously when the offer expires.0
