As the question was being asked by Lloyds I think it is reasonable to assume that they credit limit that they were referring to was your Lloyds credit card.

The questions are generated from your credit report - not from your Lloyds account specifically - so it wouldn't be reasonable to assume they're talking about the Lloyds cards.

The couple of times I've gone through this, the questions have only been about my non-Lloyds accounts.

In a lot of these cases, the information is available on your credit reports. So it pays to check those before you do these sorts of things (or do so as you're doing it).

When it comes to things like the OP's problem. If I'm given an ambiguous question, it gets an ambiguous answer. As in. I'll give them any one of my limits, and see what happens. It's usually fine.

"What's your credit limit" would be a difficult question for someone who never gets anywhere near their credit limit to answer. I use a Barclaycard for all my day-to-day spending, and I don't know off the top of my head what its current credit limit is; just that it's sufficiently high to never trouble me.

The Complaints team telephoned and agreed with my many points, offering £100 for my troubles.

Wow it's almost worth opening an account with Lloyds in the hope they make a mistake that gives reason to raise a complaint and get £100.

I'm afraid I've now become one of those perennial complainers and have become very good at it. I don't particularly enjoy it, though, and find it a heart-sinking process.

I'd much rather that companies and systems worked properly and that there was no cause to complain.

I wonder if MSErs have been in this position and can offer any advice?

Can anyone explain this ludicrous situation and any way to resolve it?
Maybe when being asked questions about your credit report - log in to your credit report to answer the questions ;)
