Morning all - the end of the week is nigh! Just two busy days to get through and I can breathe a sigh of relief for a couple of days.

Paid £7.20 for my train ticket to work this morning and haven't brought lunch with me so I'll have to pop out for something. I don't have much time in between meetings either so it'll need to be something convenient. I'll try to keep the cost low and the healthy lunch element high. :)

Yesterdays anticipated parking charge at the airport was not an issue - I was in there less then 10 minutes so only cost £2 and my relative insisted on paying it. Of course, there was fuel but I'm happy to cop for that.

I've got a busy day ahead and won't get home until about 8.45pm so I'm going to do my best to keep myself feeling good. I'll keep hydrated, have a big lunch to keep me going until later and only snack on fruit. The last couple of weeks on my long busy day I've ended up with a headache so want to avoid that if I can.

Still need to get a birthday present for my son's friend - that'll need to be a job for tomorrow lunchtime.

I've decided to just class my husband's pay day as Thursday instead of Tuesday from now on. Although it's not a big deal waiting the extra two days, it was really winding me up that it was two days late every week. So instead of letting it wind me up, in going to just think of it differently. Avoid the annoyance altogether! If he starts changing it back to Tuesdays I will lose the plot though! Haha

Hope you all have a good Thursday!

Ooh that's a long day HG. Bet you're shattered when you get in aren't you. Good plan with the water and the fruit, much better than getting through it on sugar loaded drinks and biscuits.

If your hubby's wage is always in the bank on Thursday - even though it's late, then you're right, working to that will be better for you financially and psychologically :D Weekly pay is unusual these days but Tuesday is a really odd day to be paid.... or not, as in your hubby's case

Hope your day doesn't feel too long. xx

Well, the wages arrived today, the account is balanced again and the spreadsheet is updated. All going to plan so far :D

Yes, I'm knackered and I generally need yo make myself some dinner when I get in but I managed to squeeze in 15 minutes between dropping the kids home and heading out to mu evening class so have peeled some potatoes and chopped an onion (and there's sausages in the fridge) so I can text my husband when I'm leaving and ask him to put it all on to cook for me getting home.

Knackered already! Can see the two hour class far enough!

Afternoon all! Hope you're all having a good weekend?

I'm exhausted - definitely coming down with something so looking forward to having a quiet night in.

My eldest is at a birthday party today (lunch and cinema) so will need to pick him up just before dinner time but other than that im not planning on doing much once we are back from my youngest's class.

I kept banging on this week about getting a present for my son's friends party but I realised this morning that we had a duplicate board game from christmas so I have regifted this :) saved myself £15!

Me too redo! Although I feel like I should take £15 out of my gifts/ clothes account and add it to the savings/ pay it off the credit card. We'll see.

I have one more duplicate present left over (from my youngest son) and he has a party in a couple of weeks so might well save that for then and save myself some more!

Today is a day of nothingness for me as the 'under the weather' feeling has resulted in a horrible head cold. I have barely moved today and in fact, my 6 year old said he'd make his and his brother's breakfast since I wasn't well. I supervised and he managed the whole thing without any issues (it was only cereal) so he was very pleased with himself.

I need to write a shopping list and probably go out to pick up the shopping later today but I'd quite happily just stay in my pyjamas all day. The kids are now cosied on the couch watching Disney movies after a morning of Lego and colouring in so i'll get some peace.

I'm going to head over to the home improvements board to do a bit of reading in preparation for planning next year's house renovations. May as well make the most of my time lying on the couch - and I've seen Aladdin about 15,000 times over the years so i don't mind dipping in and out of it! The kids are hooked though :)

My husband was helping out a family friend yesterday with some work in the garden and his family owns a butcher. He was emptying his chest freezer and there was loads of stuff in there that he couldn't store so my husband came home with a bag full of burgers, a steak pie and some other bits. Will see what we can use this week before I write the shopping list - shop from home and all that.

£3 was dropped into my sealed pot yesterday. Donations to that have slowed down over the last few weeks - mainly because I'm not really doing much with cash these days. Will keep going with this because i want to use this as another method of what I can 'secret saving'. It's when I put money away in places that I don't necessarily keep track of all the time or that I forget about so it's almost a surprise when i remember count it.

Things I have that fall into the 'secret savings' category:

    1. Sealed pot - Anything 50p and above goes in there. No clue how much is in there.
    2. Quality Streets tub - Anything below 50p goes in there. No clue how much is in there either.
    3. Credit union account - £100 comes out every month to the credit union account and £50 is put into my Christmas saver from this. The additional £50 just stays in the account and builds up. I probably have £200-300 in there but i need to login to see and I always forget about it.

Hope you're all having a lovely Sunday.

Sorry to hear you've come down with a head cold HG, hope it doesn't hang around too long. You made me smile about watching Aladdin, both mine had a favourite film that they watched over and over again. Used to drive me potty :rotfl: but it did keep them quiet ;)

I like a bit of re-gifting as well. If you're able to do it with 2 presents I'd definitely try and save/pay off a bit of something, although I have to admit I probably wouldn't use all of it for that :D

What a win with the meat :T That should save you a bit on shopping this week.

Have a nice afternoon. Hope you feel better soon. xx:T

Thanks tea - still feeling terrible but need to go into the office today so jist plodding on through it. I really hope it !!!!!!s off soon! It's driving me mad and I'm being really short with the kids...

This week's shop was only £44 and meat wow I only bought sausages. We should be ok aside from that. There's loads in the freezer to use up so we may have a few random dinners to use stuff up.

I need to do a little reconciliation of the bank including moving some money about from the presents I didn't buy. Decided on paying £20 off the CC from the gifts / clothes account. It's a wise move.

Today's spends should only be £7.20 on train to work - not planning anything else. I swerved a collection last week for someone who was leaving our company. I barely know him and didn't particularly have any fondness there so I battled with whether to be 'that' person who declines contributing but I decides that I would decline. I'm happy to give for people I know well and work with whatever their occasion is but I need to draw the line somewhere. And I actually don't even care if people think anything about it!

Morning HG :) Boo to the head cold hanging around :( Hurrah to paying the gift money to the CC - you're a better person than I am :D

Collections at work used to drive me mad. There was a member of staff who seemed to particularly enjoy doing them, probably because it got her out of class :rotfl: but I drew the line when she came round for a supply teacher who'd not even been there a full half term. If everybody had put in they'd have walked away with the same amount as somebody who'd been there for life!

Hope you get through the day without feeling too awful. xx
