Morning all!
Hope you're all well and coping with the snow and the cold snap that's affecting a lot of the country. There's not a drop of snow here but it is below freezing so pretty frosty and icy.
Money matters
Filled up my car this morning - £71 spent - but that should last most of the month. No big trips planned so i'm tentatively hoping it'll last the whole month! Husband will be due to fill up before the end of the week too.
Nothing to report payment-wise - nothing towards debt today.
I haven't had a PA survey for close to two weeks which is frustrating. Got another couple of 20p surveys on OnePoll but stll only at £6.70...slowwwwwlllllyyyy.... Qmee has been at 0 since cashout earlier in the week. Frustrating not being able to make much progress but hey.
Food
Sausage casserole tonight with mashed potatoes. I'm planning to prep as much as possible at lunchtime because I've got a couple of calls later in the day then my son to pick up. Got HM lentil soup for lunch and I'm only snacking on fruit today. Will reward my success today with an ice lolly after dinner
Self care
Tomorrow I'm being good to myself. Taking a half day and booked myself in for a massage and facial tomorrow afternoon. Got a voucher for the massage for Christmas and the facial is on special offer this month. Looking forward to 2 hours of relaxation - nowhere to be, noone to answer to. Just chilling.Sealed Pot Challenge 075

From reading your diary the only consistent thing about your husband's wages seems to be the inconsistency
Hope the cancelled night shifts don't impact on your financial plans too much.
PA surveys are very thin on the ground. I've not had any for a good couple of weeks either. Surely somebody, somewhere wants to know what I think about something :rotfl:
The massage and facial sounds wonderful. x0 -
You're not wrong teafor2 - if it wasn't so worrying being left without wages it'd be laughable how predictable they are! So annoying!
The night shift cancellation doesn't affect our day to day finances, of course, as we don't count it until it's in. But I would've really liked to be able to use that to boost our savings this month! We'll see how it goes. The work still needs to be done, so I'm hoping my husband will still get his fair share as we expected. If he gets 4 nights and 1 day shift that's the equivalent to 9 days' pay so 18 days pay for 10 days work is not to be sniffed at. Fingers crossed it'll all be sorted out soon.
You made me laugh about the PA thing - come on researchers! Do your job! Ask me what I think and I'll happily tell you!
Some bad news
My husband's best friend who he's known most of his life has just had some really sad news about his mum. She's really sick and they're not sure how bad it is. Just wanted to share because it has made me feel instantly so thankful for what I have - our health, the roof over our heads and each other. Everything else is a bonus. Shouldn't take any of it for granted.Sealed Pot Challenge 075

On the plus side, I am really pleased you are doing some self care. You juggle so much, so building this in is important. .Enjoy the massage and facial.
But sorry to hear about DH's best friend's mum and yes I agree we are a pretty lucky bunch on here all things considered..If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Sorry to hear about DH's BF mum. News like that really makes you stop and take stock of things doesn't it. It also re-affirms everything you have to be thankful for that we tend to take for granted. Hope there is something that they can do for her. x0

Keep vocalising your distaste for the lack of surveys and they will hear you! Or start randomly harassing university students to get their finger out with their research!
I heard last night that my poor gramps is in hospital - it's nothing too serious (although at his age everything is more risky of course) so I'm going to pop up to see him later.
We are going to spend some time with DH's best friend at the weekend to give some support. Not that we can do much but being there will hopefully be enough for now.
Paid £140 today for the rest of my husband's trip on his friends stag do. It came out the savings pot so budgeted for
Apart from that, nothing to report money wise.Sealed Pot Challenge 075

Also - husband was paid yesterday afternoon (only a day late this time but enough to make his colleague struggle to juggle things).
And he had confirmation of night shift commencing this weekend but not sure how many shifts - I'd imagine 4 nights + 1 day. Fingers crossed for it all running smoothly for maximum earnings!Sealed Pot Challenge 075

Sorry to hear your gramps isn't well, hope it's nothing serious and he's back home again soon.
Great news about husband's shifts but I don't know how you function with his pay days being all over the place. Well, obviously you're very organised but like you said, it must affect other people.
Guess what! I had 3 surveys today. :j: Big Brother is not only watching me but listening to me as well. It all feels very spooky :rotfl: but that aside I'm £2.50 up today. xx0
